I ordered fear and loathing in las vegas the criterion collection, didn't realize until I ordered it that it was shipping from singapore, wasn't too worried though. The guy has 158 feedbak w/ 97.8 positive.

Recevied the item today, I could have sworn this movie was two discs Only has one disc. The case only has a spot for only one disc, Is there two criterion versions? one from 98 and one form 2006? I looked at the item at best buy few weeks ago and could've sworn the case was a double pack.

I doubt the guy was trying to rip you off. It clearly says there is only one disc. He just choose the wrong dvd cover in his Ebay ad.

I'm not sure what edition you ended up with, because there's no one-disc Criterion edition. If you go to Criterion's website (or Amazon), their edition is a 2 disc set.

The non-Criterion edition is one disc according to Amazon.

yeah i did read that his auction was for one disc, which is all i got it has the criterion cover and a hologram sticker stating it's original, but the criterion version is 2 discs. The non criterion version has johnny depp on the cover, the distorted image from the movie poster. I have no clue what this version is, I may just resell to a used shop or list on ebay with a proper listing.

The disc you likely got is a pirated one...hence it being marked as both Criterion and being only one disc.

funny how his description says...

We only sell Original Factory-Pressed DVDs, NO bootlegs, DVD-Rs, or VCDs.

so basically this isn't true? I shouldn't have ordered from this guy, since he is in singapore. I am glad it wasn't something expensive just a $20 dvd. Should I leave negative feedback? or just leave none at all?

Obviously, contact and try to work it out with him first. But if you do find that he intensionally sold you a bootleg when it was claimed to be legit and he won't work it out with you then definitely leave some negative feedback. That's what it's there for: To warn others.

And consider contacting Criterion. Aside from helping to confirm what disc you have, they may wish to engage eBay to stop that seller.

yeah so i left the guy negative feedback, and said this isn't the criterion edition. he wrote back under my comment that his auction never said it was the criterion edition, yet his photos were of the criterion edition. i hope no one buys from this loser again.

Following the link in the original post, his description has this in it, too:

Edition: Criterion Collection
So it seems his auction did say it was the criterion edition.
