I just put this in. This type of game is right up my alley.

Two things.

First, does everybody experience ridiculous load times? I mean, within the game itself. Changing panes in the inventory screen for instance. If I have not used a particular pane for awhile, the game will freeze for like 10 seconds.

The other issue I had was the game totally died and said "the disc needs to be cleaned". The disk was literally transfered from an unopened box to my console.

Is this par for the course with this game, or do I have a bum disk/console?

Thanks!

I've been playing it on my iMac and have had none of the issues you have described. It's a great game and I fear will consume my soul it I play it any longer. Sounds likes you are playing it on the 360?

Yeah, load times are a bit on the slow side on the 360. Never had it lag when changing panes in the inventory screen though. Mainly when loading games and entering new places.

This was the kind of stuff I was expecting.

The lag I'm experiencing is really, really bad. Maybe I have a bum disk.

P.S. Yup, it's the 360 version.

I experience no lag whatsoever, but again, i'm on a Mac, not on a console...

Try holding down "A" when you first load the disk (until you get to the Bethesda title screen). I believe this sometimes helps with load times (empties cache or something like that).

The inventory system was retarded. I got stuck, unable to move because I couldn't throw something away. So, I threw the game away.

Overkill. If you try to carry more than you can handle, you can't move. You have to drop things to get under the maximum weight. You mean to say that the system wouldn't let you drop anything? I find that hard to believe. You cannot drop quest items. If you were trying to, of course it wouldn't let you.

When you're over-encumbered, you can't move. You need to drop items to be able to move. On a computer, to drop items, you shift-click the item you wanna drop. I don't know how it is on the console.

Alternatively you can cast a spell that will temporarily allow you to carry more than your normal burden. I use this spell all the time because I'm always picking the plants I pass. My hovel in the main city is loaded with alchemy ingredients.

No, it wouldn't let me drop anything. I stood in one spot 20 minutes trying to do this. It was at the start of the game. Pretty sure it was a bug.

It might be that I've spent too much time with WoW, where I pick everything up, but I was a little frustrated with the inventory system. But that incident was the last straw for me. Otherwise, the story looked amazing, and it looked to be a lot of fun otherwise.

Maybe I'll pick it up again someday.

Jeebus! This worked!

Kinda retarded that I had to do that just to get the thing to work properly, but I'm not going to complain too much.

Multiple and many thanks!!!

No problem - glad it worked out for you. I had the same problem and read in the XBox forums to find the solution.

I started playing the game and decided to be a thief. I tried to steal from someone in the castle town and got busted and tried to run from the guards. I couldnt figure out a way to get away from these guys, so i thought if I saved my game and loaded it, I would be ok.......nope. I would load my guy up and immediately get killed.

I'm lovin' this game!

It's pretty.

They fixed most of the problems with Morrowind. I ended up dropping that because of how impossible it was to keep track of quests. They seem to have dealt with that quite nicely.

Did I mention that it's pretty? Like, really pretty.

The skill system is still way borked though. I recommend that anyone who plays check out one of the character creation FAQs.

Pretty! Me like pretty!

I play it on my MacPro. Loads ok, but wish it had a lower rez that is 16:9.

I closed the first gate and have run around a bit, but nothing has really kept me wanting to play. So in that respect I found it boring. Shame.

I've been taking it really slow, I've barely made it off the Imperial island. When it's daytime, I can just look around at the scenery. It's that idyllic.

Maybe it will get dull for me, but it looks like they really nailed the GTA Tolkien thing.

I like weird stuff though. I'm totally into the alchemy system. It reminds me of the cooking systems in Japanese RPGs. I love collecting ingredients. It's like collecting coins.

I'm also used to tedious RPG power leveling (and kind of enjoy it). You don't do that in quite the same way here, but once I understood how the system worked, I think it's even better than the standard.

I played for a good 22 hours before I decided to progress to 2nd level.

P.S.

Izzat...

Bunk-ade-fresh?
Bunka-de-fresh?
Bun-kade-fresh?

Bunka-de-fresh is more fun to say, but I think Bun-kade-fresh sounds the best.
