Multiverse Network :: View Forum - Firefly General Discussion
Just incase you didn't know, there's a Firefly MMOG in the works. They haven't started anything real yet, they've mostly just announced they got the licensing to do it. The above link is to their official forums and they're looking for suggestions for the game.
If you're a Firefly fan, a Mac fan, a MMOG fan, or all three, log on and post in the suggestions thread that you'd like to see the game made available for OS X and Linux, or, to suggest that they don't limit the game in any fashion (such as only using DirectPlay and DirectX) so that other game studios can license and publish a Mac version.

Too add to that:
BootCamp.
Games running exclusively on the PC is less of a biggie nowadays.

This leads into the argument of all software makers abandoning the Mac because they don't need to produce software for it...

I don't want to have to buy Windows just so I can play a game on my Mac.

NO! There's no reason not to write proper apps for OS X. Boot Camp allows us to run EXISTING software on our Intel Macs, but it is NOT an excuse (as in SirCastor's post) to ignore OS X. I don't think I'd buy a NEW game if it was ONLY for Windows. And I'd tell the publisher that, too.

They should plan well and do a mac version. I can see the suits at Fox/Universal saying macs are only 4% of the market--but it would be interesting to see what percent of Firefly fans were also mac users.

I love Firefly but there's no way I'll be playing this.
Now bring on a second season and THAT will get me excited.

For the record, a Mac version of the Multiverse engine is supposedly planned. Not that it matters because I think this game could be potentially as tasty as chewing on cottonballs.
I love Firefly as much as the next Browncoat, but there was only one season of material and one enjoyable yet rushed movie. Not much material to work with. In order for this to have a chance of being good, Whedon would need to be hevily involved and would need to flesh out the Firefly universe and give it some depth and mythology. If the content is generated by a bunch of software developers this will be nothing more than a generic space mmorpg with some Firefly name dropping to try and sell it. And it will disappoint.
Make a Star Trek (yuck), Star Wars, or even Bab 5 MMO and there is material to work with. Content could be generated that would keep with the flavor of the source and become immersive.

If the Firefly MMO turns out to be really successful, it might allow future endeavors to proceed such as Serenity 2 and 3 movies, or possibly a mini series.

That's pretty ridiculous. A franchise rarely is built from video game to other media. It's typically as it has been: show, movie, video game. From the looks of it, Firefly is pretty dead.
