Right... but you love it when YOU get the river for the pot.
And who calls fourth street the "fiver"? I'm just being as ass, I'm sure you just had "river" running through you brain as you were writing the OP.

From the sound of that guy's strategy, it shouldn't be too hard to win it back from him.

Nobody made a good play going all in so early. Neither of you know how to play poker.

Top pair and a good kicker after the flop at a 9 person table = not that sweet of a hand.
How did the betting go down before this?

Exactly...it sucks losing, especially on the river, but you were just trying to scare everyone into folding and figured you had a reasonably OK hand to back it up just incase...this guy called your semi-bluff and it ended up paying out for him.

The average winning hand in hold em is 2 pair. Even aces get cracked. Don't put your tournament life at risk so casually.

everyone folded before the flop except me and the other guy, flop comes and i have top pair and king kicker so i felt confident going against only one guy, he raised which was about half my chips to match so i decided to re raise and go all in i had a huge advantage only card to save him was that damn jack which he hit on the river

A real poker player would of included the suits of the cards. So it's hard to say what kind of advantage you had.

Given you were out of position (if I am reading correctly), you were awfully aggressive to commit all of your chips without at least having AQ or a dominating hand like KK. It's difficult to tell if you made a bad decision not knowing preflop play on different hands, table image, player type, etc.
But if I were you, I would have been very nervous going heads up being raised with a Queen in play. Depending what you thought, you had to think he at LEAST had a Queen too... perhaps even Ace Queen. Because the only way you could have been raised is if you bet initially. So if you bet, and he came in over the top it's not necessarily bad play on his part. He could have been trying to buy the pot and simply came up on a winner by luck. Perhaps he sensed weakness from you or that you were making a run at the pot. But it's not bad play on his part necessarily, just bad luck he caught his Jack. It happens though. To all of us.

it wasn't a bad play on his part, and when I re-raised it wasn't a bad play on my part. we both turned our cards over I had a HUGE advantage, and lost it. it happens to the best of us, even me. It's okay though we played two games I won game #2 so it wasn't all a loss.

I don't know that anyone agrees with you that it was a good play. It wasn't horrible. You had something. But there's a lot of variables. When he bet a good amount of chips (equal to half your chip stack), how many of your chips were out there? What were you protecting by making the call with an (arguably) questionable hand?
