Well my roommates are either heading back home across the state or leaving the state completely for a while but I do get to keep the PS2 at my house for break, except all we have right now are Guitar Hero 2 and Devil May Cry 3. I'm looking to pick up a used game or two to keep me busy for the next couple weeks.
Here's what I've liked in the past:
-GTA series
-GT4
-Driver: Parallel Lines
-Devil May Cry 3
-God of War looked cool (my roommate played through it)

I see tons of games out there but I'm not much into the whole gaming scene so I don't know what's good and what's crap.
I don't want to spend more than $20 on it (new or used).
Any ideas?

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.

God of War is very good
I'm a big fan of GTA so my bias is well known (Go to San Andreas though, if you're deciding which of the three pick up. It may be urban, but the gameplay is unrivaled in the other 2)
Hitman is good
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance is good (and two player)

Oh yeah, I forgot MGS:Snake Eater. That was a fun game. And we do have GTA:SA back in the dorm room, I've played that to death.

Well I certainly wouldn't go backwards on the GTA games (and don't bother with Stories)

With the titles you listed, I'd recommend checking out the "Prince of Persia" titles.

No no no, all wrong. If you haven't played it yet, get ICO. It is seriously one of the best games ever made for ANY system.

Also, check out 'shadow of the colossus'.

Both of these games are freakin EPIC. Both should be under $20 or so.

Final Fantasy X
Crash Bandicoot 3 (I think that was the first PS2 one)
Shadow of the Collosus
Xenosaga (although it's kinda melodramatic)

Yep, my roommate got Shadow of the Colossus since I heard it was good but stupidly traded it in to buy GH2 before he was even halfway through. I've played all the GTA series (I think we still have Vice City but GTA:3 was sold off a while back).
I don't think I'm a Final Fantasy type of person, but I've heard really good things about Prince of Persia. I might check that out at Hastings or someplace to see if I can pick it up used.

I really don't know. I listed what I like, maybe you can come up with a genre from that?
BTW does anyone know anything about 'Gun?' It's $10 new at Wal-Mart.

Gun is ok.
Not the best game in the world, but I played through it and still had a lot of fun. For $10 it's a steal though, I'd say get it.

Star Wars: battlefront 1 and 2 are good for shooters.

God of War is an excellent game.

Burnout Takedown or Revenge are great racing games.

Tiger Woods golf games are ok and they are multi player.

My friend got SW BF 1 and we had fun with that, 2 looks good. I had Burnout 2 and wasn't extremely impressed. What's multiplayer look like in the newer ones?
I liked Hot Shots golf, I think as far as sports games go I like fun more than realism (I'll play Blitz 2000 on N64 waaaay before I'll play any of my roommate's EA sports or Madden football games on PS2).

I played BF 1 online a little bit, but it turned out to be mostly 10 year old that decided using the n-word a lot was edgy and therefore funny. Or when I'd mention to some obese idiot to stop breathing heavily directly into the mic, everyone would instantly start breathing heavily into the mic, because that is apparently hilarious.

Seriously dude, all these games are TRASH compared to ico. Burnout= unrealistic handling arcade junk, not real cars, etc.

http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/adventure/ico/players.html

http://ps2.gamezone.com/gzreviews/r17271.htm

http://ps2.ign.com/objects/014/014833.html

This is more htan just 'a game', it seriously approaches 'art', on the level that some small independant films do.

If that's your problem with Burnout, then obviously you're missing the point of the game.

I can't believe I forgot about it. Another vote for Burnout (though I might recommend 3 over 4)

I'm busy playing god of war now. Very good. It seems a little short, but for $20 it's a great deal.

Shadow of the collosus is an amazing game. Probably the best game I've played in a while. I plan to play through it again soon.

Katamari damacy is a strange but really neat game. You push a sticky ball and have to collect items to grow your ball to a certain size. Sounds bizarre, great fun though.

I've got to agree with Katamari Damacy... it's truely different and hard to describe. You start out very small, picking up things like thumbtacks, playing cards, etc and eventually grow in size so much that you are picking up entire cities, islands, godzilla-style monsters, etc.

Get the 1st one... the sequel, "We Love Katamari" is still fun, but not quite as fun. Oh and the music is addicting.
It looks just like a telefunken' U-47 - Zappa

ICO ICO ICO!

Once I get xmas money, I plan to get some of these:

Black
Metal Gear 3, Substinance
Okami
Bully
Secrets of Normandy WW2 flight sim

Other than that I don't think I'll be getting any other ps2 games... ever. I have a decent library, with good replayability.

Oh heck yes if you don't have katamari that is a MUST GET game. It's simply fantastic... you'll think it's super lame, but don't worry. Everybody does initially. Every SINGLE friend of mine who's seen that says "well this is pretty gay" and then 15 minutes later they've completely converted and love it. It's hilarious.

I wouldn't bother on Black. Rent it, but you'll only play it for probably 4 hours total. It's fun to blow up everything but after that there is NO story and nothing to work for.

Twisted Metal: Black. It's a car combat game. Not exactly new, but great fun. (Note that the first three pictures IGN has for it are…not the right game.)

Ooo...that one is highly likely. It got a 9.6 (Incredible) and it's got multi-player. I'll check it out on my way out of town tonight.

GT4 will eat tons of your time.

That is, if you are actually interested in a Driving Simulator instead of a Racing Game.

Yeah, I got a good way through that game but then my friend took it back. Not bad, but I hate no damage rendering and absolutely horrid engine sounds.
