thats no "jag", it could have been any other brand

Jaguar is becoming faceless. once a brand for the wealthy, they now produce diesels, frontwheel driven cars, and they are without a racing team. They produce stationwagons !! They won't last another 5 years as a luxury brand.

besides, the whole car looks like a Toyota Celica with a nose job

I think it's great. They're moving more towards aston martin's badass look and ditching those goggly eyes they've had for so long. It looks fresh, sophisticated, and definitely something bond would probably drive. Props to jag!

Now it'll look even cooler on the back of a tow truck.

You can tell it's a Ford from a mile away. It's certainly not a proper Jaguar.

Hey Ford - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You cretins.

You're thinking of 80s and early 90s jags like spliffdaddy always raves on about. The newer ones aren't anywhere near as unreliable.

Agreed. I think it looks like the current Charger design.

That's plain ugly, like others say, could be any car brand. Looks like the new Aston Martins, which lack all the style of the classics (compare the two Aston Martins in Casino Royale, I think most would take the DB5).

They are definitely going for the female and minority markets with this thing. That faceless, modern look, with a heavy touch of bling, is sure to win them over.

Ironically, the only big luxury car company which seems to have maintained its identity is Mercedes, even though all of its cars have over-the-top redesigns every few years.

Two-door sports cars are for kids.

Get a real car like the Rolls Royce Phantom or the Maserati Quattroporte.

That's not a Jag - I have no idea what this is. I mean, look a the ghetto wheels for starters. They've thrown away everything that makes a Jag a Jag, design wise, and build a genero-wedge. Not bad looking but certainly not a Jaguar.

What's with that terrible huge grille? Are they trying to copy Audi? Sorry, but that's not a Jaguar.

There still being based on Fords then, and this is more similar then the old one.
The NEW (as yet un-released) Mondeo is in Casino Royal (when he turns up at that private members club). Think of that, look at this, it's obviously the same car.

2007 Mondeo concept

Dakar, It's the XK that (like the previous version) uses and very similar design to the Aston.

I doubt that this (the car at the top of the thread)is an 'XK', this is having 'proper' rear seats (with room for people and everything), XK's don't. More likely to be an X-Type.

It looks like a very nice evolution of the new XK. Jags still are unreliable- as is anything off the British Isles. My Grandpa's S-Type goes back to the dealer at least once a month- it's a 2004 S-Type R. His 1998 XK had the same issue.

Looks like a mustang concept - nothing like a Jag.

I hate what American 'designers' do to a proper car. Yuk.

Well, the 'cat is outta the bag', so to speak. ha!

Straightline - Detroit Auto Show: Jaguar C-XF Concept – defining Jaguar’s design direction

I think it's sharp looking, and overall a good move by jag to get away from it's stuffy heritage and start building something that competes more with BMW and mercedes, instead of buick.

The thing is all that "stuffy heritage" is part of what the Jaguar brand is. This looks more like something from a Japanese co. (it has looks of one of the Nissan Skyline Prototypes).

Yeah, well, that stuffy heritage is dead. It's not a leader, it's a follower, trapped in the past. This is jaguar trying to rekindle the 'edge' that it once had back in the 60s.

Yeah, nice idea, but it this case it's ended up looking like they're just copying Ford's New Edge design language. I'd rather they copy stuffy old (classic?) design than new Ford design. Don't get me wrong, new Fords look nice, they're just not what a Jag should be based on.

And what's with the completely chavvy 45 inch shiny rims? They're just a self parody now, same as the ones on the Aston in Casino Royale. Only pimps and drug dealers would be seen dead with rims like that, not James Bond!

Jaguar has been dead for years....no, decades. The name is the only part that lives.

That concept car looks like a Chrysler 300 with an extended C-pillar.

I think they'd have more success introducing a modern XKE.

Those aren't 45" rims, and a lot of cars have polished alloys. I don't see the problem with them, they don't look terribly different from rims that jaguar offered on other cars prior to this one.

Jaguars are just quaint olde English cars nowadays. Although my grandpa's S-Type R is quite fun on the drag strip

This kinda is a modern xke. Cutting edge styling, good performance and a direct attack at today's current sporty sedans/cars. BMW is definitely in jaguar's crosshairs, and this looks to be a much more exciting choice than a generic 3 series like thousands of other people already own.

That's a tad unfair. I used to drive a XJ6 which had no problems, ever. Even with the small six cylinder engine it was a joy to drive. When I lived in England I knew a number of people who all drove Jags, none of them experienced any issues. You're thinking of the bad old days in the 60s when British car eclectics were indeed a joke.

Well, what I meant was something with the same styling cues as the XKE, just done in a more modern way. Sort of like the new Challenger and Camaro.

As far as reliability goes, Jaguar had problems with the electric systems and the Borg-Warner automatic transmissions. Once they replaced everything with Bosch fuel injection, Delco airconditioning, and GM Turbohydromatic transmissions - the Lucas electrics still kept failing. But that only meant the cruise control, instrument panel, and power windows quit working. The car still drove.

OK, youre right - to be a "real" sports car its just to heavy. But I think this configuration is a good ballance between sport and comfort.

That's a pretty gorgeous expensive car though.
"Gorgeous" is the right word - I think its an extremly well designed car.
