Had to follow in his dad's footsteps, you know? Perhaps he too will start a practice below his home but apparently never have any patients.

Welcome. You'll have a great time using Macs. Are you gettting an iBook or a PowerBook 12"? I have a PowerBook G4 12". It's a beautiful machine.

I'd recommend a late-model iBook G4. Similar stats and much cheaper. You should consider the new MacBook. Price-wise, it's a steal.

Yeah, if I were you'd I'd go for the MacBook. You can pick them up refurbished for less than $800 from Apple and it will still have a warranty, which the PB is unlikely to have. The size and weight are comparable but the MacBook will blow out away as far as performance is concerned.

i was thinking the macbook but it is 3 inches wider then the g4, and i will only be using it for still photo editing, and maybe a little music playing, but that is what i have an ipod for.

any ways size is the key as i travell constantly

I oppose the MacBook for photo editing because CS2 is not Universal and you'll probably be using that until CS3 comes out.

Theo, the only problem with getting a PowerBook over a MacBook is that it'll depreciate pretty fast and newer software is already migrating to the new platform.

I would recommend the Intel MacBook. You can already download Photoshop CS3 for Intel for it, which is probably going to be your main editing application.

If you're moving from a Windows PC, the MacBook might also help to ease that transition as you'll still have access to any Windows apps you might've invested in.

It's closer to one inch wider, and you get much more screen real estate. The higher resolution helps a lot.

Hmmm.... I have a PowerBook 12" that I was just considering selling (half serious). But then again, this is quite possibly the world's most perfect notebook. The keyboard is just awesome. I'm not sure anything will ever come close to this machine.
