Can anyone think of a way that I could get a text message to my phone when a certain budd signs onto my AIM list? I'm not looking to chat thru the phone, I just want to know when the person signs on. Then, I know to be near my computer in case a chat comes thru.

I've looked for a service like this online and couldn't find it. I also looked for a way to have iChat do it, but no options there either.

Any ideas?

In Adium, you could add your cell phone number as a buddy (type +[your 11 digit number] minus the brackets), then in the preferences you can go the Actions menu and have it send a message to your cell phone (it comes in the form of a text message) when a buddy signs on, but idk if you can assign it for specific buddies. You can also tell it to activate an applescript, so it's possible to whip one up that could check for a specific buddy's name and then send a message to your cell phone buddy.

If he is like me, sometimes your manager gets on IM to see if you're at your computer. And its good to be there in case a message comes up. That may not be this case, but there are many reasons why this could be helpful.
