Me and iMitchell were talking today so I'd thought I'd share with you.

I ordered a 20" iMac (specs on sig) and about 2 hours later I checked the status and it said "ACTION REQUIRED" So I clicked and it said that my order cannot be processed until Jan 10 2007.

Just wondering what everyone thought of this.

I ordered a config that isn't ready in 24 hrs cause it was loaded out with everything and wireless KB and MM...so that could be it.

But I don't want to start one of them OMG THE STORES DOWN! Threads but would like to see what could possibly come of this.

They were last updated in August, so maybe a speed bump? Could also be nothing. No need to panic, just be patient.

I think the bigger mystery here is why in the world would someone who is up to speed on the apple news would order a new computer the night before a keynote?

Well you are on a mac board with over 100 posts and telling us that you can't order an iMac and this is news because a keynote is tomorrow.

That sounds up to speed to me.

Hmm, they wouldn't update the iMac if it was just a speed bump (and I'm not sure there's much to speed-bump it with). So it would have to be a re-design. That would be unexpected, but it has been a little while for the iMac.

Turtle....I work for a camp here in MS and we were going to rely on that computer to project the PowerPoint (actually liveworship) and use it to edit the final video and such. But we still have my iBook. It's all cool. But when you have 20 mins to render and 10 min video it's kinda hard on this thing.

(we did have a PowerMac dual 2.5 G5 with 4 gigs of ram but it is in Alabama for some reason)

Tell the Fedex girl to return the iMac back to the sender. And never repeat this mistake again.

I was going to buy an iMac during Apple's Christmas promo, but I decided to wait a month. Hope we get something good!

Maybe they were quietly bumped to new 802.11n cards to work best with the TV?

No, all C2D Macs and the Mac Pro have had 802.11n cards, just not enabled on the Mac side. In Windows, they registered as the proper card.

It's strange. The iMac still ships withing 24 hours unless you add on the wireless mouse and keyboard like he mentioned. That changes it to 1-3 business days.

That's not strange. What's strange is that they said his order couldn't be processed until tomorrow. If it's just the ship date it's talking about, I don't think you get a special message like that.

Probably because they can't do that for some items and not for others; otherwise people would know which items were going to be bumped at MWSF.

Maybe? Steve may be that paranoid...
