Don't ask me why, I just had that feeling today. Apple is changing name, maybe changing focus, and Jobs is leaving.

Due to some rumors floating about that his cancer had returned, I was concerned, too, but he looked hale from the online pix.

And didn't Apple change its name when it dropped the rainbow logo? I thought it was Apple, Inc. for quite some time now.

Yeah when Apple dropped the rainbow logo, Steve talked about changing the name to 'Apple', only. I thought they already had, except in legalese.

Whether this was Steve's last keynote, well. Impossible to say. We never know where we'll be same time next year, now do we?

Probably were afraid of Apple Corps before.

Being a showman, I'm sure he'd work his retirement into a keynote somehow, to energize the crowd and bring more publicity.

I don't know that he would do just the keynote. He seems to love to be in control. He would not want to present something that is not coming from him directly. And being involved in everything is very demanding, draining.
Oh well, we shall see I guess.

Well of course Steve will someday leave Apple. That will be a sad day indeed. And frankly I'm worried that without Steve, Apple will become lost again.

But I don't think this was his last one. I think at the very least, for his last Keynote, he'll mention it at the and as the final "Oh, and one more thing..."

However, Steve mellowed quite a bit. When the chimps were scrambling backstage trying to get the clicker to work, he spinned the yarn about he and Woz jamming people's TV reception.

The dude can definitely work a room.

I think that he was really energetic for MacWorld. He seemed fine to me. Although when he said "I've been waiting for this moment for two years" I almost got scared.

I think he'll be around for a bit longer, but I'm not terribly concerned about his departure this time. I'm sure that he already has his successor under his wing, and will leave the company in good hands.

Officially Apple didn't drop the "Computers" of their name with the logo change. But they did so in all their marketing. I think they kept the Computer for legal reasons as I remember they made a fuss about no longer being Apple Computer when they went to the Apple Shape-only, comparing it to the Nike swoosh. It was a red Aqua-like apple for a long time after that.

If you compare the side by side "Is Jobs sick" photo comparison done in WWDC (last August) to how Jobs looked yesterday, you'll see that his appearance has returned to basically what it was in the older, "not sick" photo. I think Jobs is fine. He seems very happy with his corporate life. Of course, he will give up the CEO position eventually, unless he really is an alien. And that eventuality will have a negative short term effect on the company and cause some to panic, but as long as Apple continues doing the right things everything will work out. I think he'll remain chairman of the board for quite some time after his successor takes the CEO position. The only thing other than potential illness is the SEC, but thankfully seems to be in the clear (at least thus far).
