I logged onto my university's home page and saw this little icon in the center of the page:
Western Michigan University

KALAMAZOO-Coming soon to an iPod near you: Western Michigan University.
Apple Computer has designated WMU as one of a handful of colleges and universities in the nation to be an iTunes University, with the company providing the University with the platform and server space to begin providing podcasts.
Podcasts are digital recordings distributed over the Internet for playback on mobile devices or personal computers. As an iTunes University, WMU will be able to provide lectures, presentations or other programs as downloadable files for students and others to access...
Not a whole lot of details, I don't think it will really affect me or sell more iPods here as 95% of the students already have one or two. I just hope I'll be able to skip lectures and listen later on my drive to school when I do attend class.

When I first went to college you had to have special classes to get email addresses and they only lasted while you were taking that class. Oh, and the email was only accessible on VAX/VMS terminals. That was the late 1980's.
Now, WMU is completely wireless at 7 MB throughout campus. ALL classes pretty much require you to use a discussion board or access and turn in assignments online.

We had Mac Lab to.. Mostly Mac Classics and Pluses, but there were a few SE/30's that flew... Of course, they were also loaded with viruses...
