Moral quandries aside, alienating pron from blu-ray is not a good market strategy. That's a good way to lose out on a huge market.
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

Sony lost when they called it "blu-ray".

1) It's sounds too geeky.

2) Joe Consumer is gonna get it confused with bluetooth.

3) There's no reference to what it is in its name. HD DVD is obviously something to do with DVD, so appeals to the consumer more because s/he already knows what it does.

HD DVD is too long a name. Blu-ray is nice and neat.
