Anyone watch this? How accurate is it to "Beowulf"?
I enjoyed the story on the TV show, but the acting and special effects are horrendous!
I only watched it because I have always wanted to read Beowulf, but never got around to it. Looks like I will have to make the time to get these awful images out of my head from the TV show.

Is it based on Beowulf, or is it based on Grendel, a more recent novel about the eponymous monster?
If it's based on Grendel then I could definitely see how it would be low-budget B-movie...
(That's the first time I've ever needed to use the word "eponymous")

In the TiVo description it just says "based on the poem". I assumed they meant Beowulf.

Do you mean John Gardner's Grendel? And if so, you don't appear to be a fan. I love this book- it's one of my all time favorites.

That's one of the more finely crafted sentences I've seen on MacNN in a while.

Do yourself a favor and rent "The 13th Warrior." It flew under the radar when it was in the theaters, which is a real shame. It's a great movie.

I'm thinking Citizen Kane II: Roseblood. In which Kane comes back for revenge against those who would not give him the love and approbation he so desired in life.
