the way it looks, it was at its most slack pretty near the ground, so not much room to get enough tension built up to go to high. i could be wrong though

on a second thought, can the sling shot be wound up tighter at the tips so its less slack? therefore a person being pulled down could be get pretty high up

There was a case in Germany some years ago where two girls weren't properly strapped into the seat. Both got catapulted out - I think one died instantly, not sure about the other one.

They have something up at Lagoon (local amusement park) like that, but you're in a full-on cage. And it seats two. (like the one mentioned in Panama City.)
