are LED monitors really going to be much better than current technology. I understand they are brighter, and less power hungry, but is the difference that vast? I may hold out for a macbook til they come with them. I plan on buying a new machine once leopard is released.

Well, in the end it's just the backlight to the screen, you know? It won't suddenly levitate or give blowjobs or anything.

An LED monitor would allow for more even lighting and thus better color fidelity, I imagine.

The difference is huge. Brighter, huuuugge leap in contrast ratio, less power hungry. Nothing but good things.

Exactly. The real innovation will come when the display itself uses LEDs, but it's going to be a long time before an OLED display big enough to use in a laptop is cheap enough for even Apple's sky-high price points.
