Unfortunately I'm picking Indy to win by 10, I hate the colts though.

To start the topic along:

Here are the Bears postseason stats: NFL.com - Team Stats

Here are the Colts postseason stats: NFL.com - Team Stats

The Bears will rely on thier defense to win, as usual. However, the Colts defense doesn't look to bad either and the Colts have the offensive advantage over the Bears.

I think the game will be somewhat evenly matched. I'm going to say Bears by 6 though. No particular reason why, just a feeling. I knew all season they would make it to the Superbowl, but I thought they would be facing the Chargers.

*I used postseason since it's a little better indicator of how they perform under pressure.

Super Bowl pressure is a completely different kind of pressure. There's no telling how these two teams are going to act. Peyton might go into machine mode and punch out a 5 TD game, in which case the Bears don't stand a chance. Then again, Peyton might choke horribly and have a 0 TD 2 INT game. If he's truly one of the greatest, the former will take place.

True. That's why I said it was a somewhat good indicator. Really, you never know what is going to happen. It could go into overtime at 3-3.

Picks.

And am I the only person who thinks macfantn purposely didn't start a NFL Playoff picks thread so he could start 3 extra threads?

i pic da Bearz to loose the Sooper Bowel.

Paytan Maning is da gratest qaurterbak evar!

Seriously, though. The Colts are battle tested and play better competition in the AFC. Yet again, there are at least 4, maybe 6 AFC teams that could beat the NFC contender who made the Super Bowl.

I'm not ruling out a Bears win, simply because they do seem to match up well with the Colts. They can run the ball and rush the passer. Two things you must do to beat the Colts.

As I said in another thread:

First quarter will be mostly sloppy with a few three and outs while the teams get a feel for each other's strategy and personnel.

Second quarter, the teams will trade field goals. The first one to score will get the announcers to say, "The first team to score wins half of the Super Bowls." or something stupid like that. After all, my beloved Broncos scored first against the Redskins and we know how that turned out.

Third quarter, the Colts and Manning will have made some adjustments and come out slinging. They'll score almost at will.

Late in the fourth quarter, the Bears will pick up a charity (trash) touchdown that only serves to make the score look closer.

Colts - 27
Bears - 10

I'm an AFC fan and I'll probably get bashed for it. But hey, I can't stand the Colts and I'm picking them, so I'm not a total homer.

So if the Bears win the super bowl, does that mean no one will consider it legit because they didn't get to beat the other 3-5 AFC teams that are "better"?

Not at all. If they beat the Colts, they definitely earned the title.

I just think that, partially due to the AFC's superior play of late, that the Colts are more battle-tested and are playing at a higher level.

Believe me, I'd love to see the Bears win simply because of my dislike for the Colts. But I don't see it happening.
