hi there,

we (me,29 and my girlfriend,31) are from germany and on vacation in southern california. right now we are in san diego. it's amazing here. the weather, the city, everything.

what sucks though is that we eat out of course everyday because we are not exactly well equipped to cookour own meals. we talk to a lot of people but only for a couple of minutes to those who recognize that we are (obviously) tourists, when we order something to eat at restaurants or check in at hotels. those talks are the best part of our vacation.

if you always wanted to know how "porsche" is spelled correctly or if you'd like to talk about living in the usa, if you love to hear ze funny germans talk, let's get together.

if you have a garden and a grill we bring steaks and beer.

in all seriousness, if you want something to do in san diego, the best bet would try and make it to the zoos and other similar attractions. they are all amazing, and some are even opened into the night hours so that you can see the nocturnal animals do there thing.

When you get bored of watching the animals you can always make steaks out of them.

There is a place in Old Town called Fred's. Go there on Tuesday for Taco Tuesday. Great tacos and an amazing selection of tequila. Good margaritas and a decent selection of beer.

Make sure you visit the Stone Brewery for some oak aged Arrogant Bastard. You can use this list to find the one closest to your current location.

Tonight I'm having a dinner party, so I'm cooking:

Portobello crusted rib-eye, on a bed of Garlic smashed potatoes, smothered in a Caramelized Onion & Balsamic reduction, with a side of Asparagus.

Can't wait!

I used dried portobello mushrooms (powederized them) and made a dry rub along with salt and pepper. Then sear - finish cooking - eat!

It was delicious

Thats exactly what I had last night (except it was Argentinean Sirloin).
Identical, even down to the side of Asparagus.
