So you're flying home around the holidays. Bad weather forces the plane to land elsewhere... yea, its a hassle, but that's life. But then your plane takes off and leaves you stranded....

WTF?

I have flown United plenty of times. And the last 5 flights I've had with them I've been more than 40 minutes late to my destination. Their customer service has definitely gone downhill as of late.

But then again, my last trip was on Delta (yeah, they're still around). And on the first leg of my trip they had TWO planes break while we were waiting to transfer, which made me 1 hour and 30 minutes late. Then on my way back we were late leaving by about 20 minutes, and they lost my luggage. All the while the only consolation they'd give us is to say "when you get a chance, write the management about your experience." Which just served to make me even more angry, since I knew all that would accomplish (if anything) would be a voucher to fly on Delta again. Which I will never ever do.

So yeah, all airlines suck these days. We pay out the ass to get treated like garbage.

I hate United. I really really do. Especially when I'm in a rush and don't have time to buy food ahead of time for a cross country flight or something. There's no way in hell I'm paying $6 for a tiny sandwich about the size of my fist.

JetBlue, on the other hand, is fantastic. Now that they're flying to Chicago the only time I'm ever going to have to fly another airline is when I'm going to New Mexico to visit my mom.

Jet Blue seems the worst, making everyone sit on the plane for all those hours and the bathrooms overflow??!?! Closterphobic!

Here's a thought. Start an airline that offers (1) comfortable seats that fully recline to a bed; (2) good food with real silverware; (3) friendly staff; and then charge what it is worth. Maybe people will pay it, especially for business travel!

As I stated in the "Desperate, he used air sickness bag for urinary relief" thread...

http://forums.macnn.com/89/macnn-lou...-sickness-bag/

...these bastards can't treat us this way! There needs to be a passenger's Bill of Rights!

NOW!!!

Did you all see the story on page two of the linked thread about the DEAD BODY placed in the seat next to a 1st Class passenger? These a-holes need to have a minimum level of contempt or disregard below which they CAN NOT GO without the passenger having proscribed remedies that are severe enough to have a deterrent effect.

Those "bastards" could fix every problem on every plane. Of course, you'd pay 1970s prices for air travel (adjusted for inflation, of course).

You have the "right" to find another way to travel. I'll take the < $200 tickets we've become accustomed to, bring my own sandwich if need be and deal with the off chance of a major problem like a grownup.

Rights! I love this "champagne demands on a beer budget" society.

Being left behind and stranded by an airline. Being forced to wait on the tarmac 19 hours before the airline cancels the flight. Forcing a passenger to use an airsickness bag to urinate in because the light in the loo was out. A first class passenger waking up to find himself sitting next to a dead body...

That's off the top of my head and reported in the past 36 hours.

The fact is that you look at it the way the airlines look at it. Down and dirty travel.

Imagine if fast food chains adopted that same philosophy? A little vermin waste or some roach parts in your food? Hey, it's fast food. I'd rather have cheap prices than clean, safe food.

There are MINIMUM standards of service that should be established that even if they GIVE away the seats there would still be a level of service that can't be violated.

O% Lavatories = No flight.
A graduated scale for waiting on the ground FOR WHATEVER THE REASON = Vouchers for future flights.
Beyond a certain length of time waiting on the ground passengers should have the right to deplane.
No passenger should have to sit next to dead people.
Stranding passengers = Free travel & lodging.

Those are just to start!
