Hey, I can't post this on my blog. And I confess I haven't been on here much. I think part of it is the new layout... I don't know why it looks so nice but for some reason it just feels weird... maybe it just needs to grow on me. Anyway:

I have a date! (I can't post this cause my mom views my blog and will flip out, as well as people who work at my school who might have a problem and it'd just be annoying if they found out.) Yup, we met online, actually I placed a personal ad mainly looking for friends, and we started chatting and stuff and, I dono one thing's lead to another, and yah.
Funny info... when you're a guy, being "pursued" feels really weird! But it's a heck of a lot of fun! So my first date ever is on Tuesday, we're going out for dinner, and then walking to a near by Gelati place for desert.
If you're familiar with the myers briggs personality test, I'm an ENFP, he's an ENTP. I never would have thought this personality type combination would work out really well, but the more I talk to him the more I'm thinking this one might. Though I think he's a boarderline I.
Anyway, I just wanted to share. I'm a lil scared, but more than anything I'm excited... it feels pretty dang good to have a guy making an effort for me!

Good for you.

Kinda sucks you can't even say these things on your personal blog. But, I hope with time you'll soon learn not to give a f*ck what others say/think about you. Just be yourself and let everyone else bugger off if they can't/won't accept you as you are.

Anyway, have fun and come back here with all the details of your hot man-on-man action. j/k

The thing is dealing with my mom while living at home, and dating is just not fun. So what does doesn't know won't hurt her.

Anyway OK so we moved the date up to today since he wasn't going to the states after all, for a trip. We went to Moxie's, and had dinner. It was good, he was so much shyer than I thought he'd be! I think he's only a boarderline extrovert. Which is actually better since I prefer people who aren't as loud as me. And we talked about a bunch of stuff, this and that, and it was good. And... yah... he was so nervous though, I've never had anyone nervous around me cause they liked me before. It's always been cause I'm just out going and people get intimidated.

Wow... I feel so bloody good.

Oh and we met online, gaycanada.com I put up a personal ad, just for like meeting people, friends, that sorta thing. He responded, and I almost didn't respond since he didn't have a picture, but I said whatever, and wrote him a few times then asked if I could see a picture.
He showed me, like... this really bad picture. I swear I don't know how he thought it was a good picture, he's so much cuter in person. Actually though he said the same about me. But... yah... hmm... yum. Anyway. I'm happy!

Don't you think someday you will need to be straight (bad pun) with your mom? Might make like easier if it is sooner than later.

Oh my mom knows I'm gay. It's just that if she knows that I'm dating, she'll just be annoying. Actually the plan is that if this works out, I'm gonna invite him to come over and swim this summer, and hope that my dad is out in the garage, and then he can start talking tools with my dad. As soon as he expresses any interest in something my dad specializes in, dad will start yammering with him, he'll politely listen, and dad will decide that he's a really great guy. Once he finds out that he's also incredibly secure in his carrier, stable, that he and I have been dating for a while, that he makes me really happy, that we haven't slept together, dad'll come around and think it's great, at which point Dad will tell Mom to shut up and stop bothering me about it cause he's just glad I'm happy.

That sounds like a pretty good plan, but it doesn't hold a candle to just plain ****ing MOVING OUT.

I don't suppose at this point it's too personal a question to ask how old you are?

Wow, I guess I've been out of the loop for a while. When did Superchicken finally come out ? Seems like just a few months ago he was still in denial and studying to be a minister. I did a quick search but came up with nada ... anyone want to point me to the relevant thread. I missed that particular episode of this soap opera.

Salty's prior nickname on these boards was Superchi[c]ken, later to be changed to Superchicken (without the brackets). I don't remember when he went to the name Salty .... all I remember is that he was in bible school and his posts seemed to indicate an obsession with homosexuality though he vigorously denied being gay. Now, somewhere in the last few months, he's obviously come out fully .... guess I just missed the party.

Superchic[k] - and then Superchic[k]en, because he had real problems with people questioning his manhood (i.e. thinking he was a girl).

Anybody who hadn't figured it out by then wasn't paying attention.

I'm waiting for the next instalment of the supersaltychicken'NN blog where he discussed what paterns they will have for their bridal registry and where they will live when they retire. Wow! One date and this guy is picking out burial plots.

So is this typical of how same sex dating works?

OK first of all it started out superchic[k]en, then superchicken cause everyone thought I was a girl, then Salty.
I came out almost a full year ago. And I never denied being gay, I just thought it was a sin so I also never said that I was. Meh, I was young, closeted and unsure of my future, gimmie a break.

Anyway, I certainly wanna move out. But right now I primarily live in dorm, and so all my friends at school know. But when I come in to the city on the week ends that's when I can see him. So it requires some finesse. I'll be moving out as soon as I can find a job and a room mate. I'm going to see if Kim might want to get an apt with me, or Jennine or someone. I am basically going to go for just about any job I can get. But I hope I can get one with good pay.

Oh and I'm 22. He's 4 years and 8 months older than me. 5 years was my cut off point. But he's... I dono, he's really great, and I've made it very clear that I'm not looking for a sugar daddy. And he's from a Lutheran background, so he's OK with me being a pastor. He actually thinks that's kinda cool. Sigh... it's great.

You're 22? For some reason I always thought you were younger. Not sure why since I knew you were in college...

Oh well. Congratulations and good luck.

Good job salty.

I was wondering if you remember chatting with me on google chat or ichat av when it first came out. If I remember right it was only a biblical conversation since you hadn't come out at the time. Seems like years ago anyway.

Salty,

Here's a suggestion for blog entry #70923:

"Dear Blog,

One thing I'm not interested in doing is dating guys. If I was, I'd post about it here so there was nothing to hide. As it stands, there is nothing to see here, so I suggest looking elsewhere and removing your prying eyes from my private life, jerk.

Sincerely,

Salty"

And then blog entry #70924 should just be pictures of naked chicks.

yea, i think he gets uncotrollable boners around dudes, so it wouldn't work out too well with a guy roommate. his current guy roomies(or past ones) just like wrestling in short shorts and stuff. maybe he could find a dude like that. perhaps Eric or Michael? maybe Jonathan??

Oh, and another piece of advice: go on lots of dates! Seriously, it's a good way to get to know yourself, and you can start to understand how your personality and others' interact. Don't get too uh, hung up on finding the One True Guy just yet -- understand that you have a job to do, and that job is learning how to date.

I already know how me and other personality types get along. I'm a massive extrovert, I don't need to learn all that stuff. I mean I can grow in knowledge, but I have friends of all different types. Though I tend to get along best with people who on the Myers Briggs tests score as Ns and Ps. Tons of my friends are NFPs, or NTPs or NFJs etc. He's an ENTP.

Oh and Kim probably would be a better choice than Jennine at least for getting along, Jennine would be better simply because she'll make sure everything's taken care of. But she'll get pissy over random things and think I'm ignoring her. Not to mention if I have a boy over she'll feel like I'm ignoring her. Wonder if Megan might move back to WInnipeg!? Hmm... Oh and me and John would not work out well. Though me and Jeremy have talked about getting a place too... that might work.
