ROCKET RACING LEAGUE: Will This Become The NASCAR of Air Racing?

Hey X-Racer Fans!!

It’s summer and things are cooking at the Rocket Racing League! In fact, creating a brand-new 21st century sport like rocket racing is like cooking a 50-course dinner and making sure it all comes out on time and in the proper order. Fortunately, we have some extraordinary cooks in the kitchen and everything is going according to plan.

The State of New Mexico and City of Las Cruces are officially on-board with the RRL, providing land and assistance to build our new headquarters and hangar site locations to house our teams. They are also assisting in the creation of a new industrial park next to the airport for future rocket-based industries that will grow up around the home of the Rocket Racing League.

We’ve taken delivery of our first Velocity aircraft that will be used as a “training plane” for RRL pilots and our big contest to name the first X-Racer has a winner which will be announced at the October 2006 X-PRIZE Cup in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Many thanks to our partner in this contest, AOL, for making it a huge success! If you’d like to see a video simulation of what an RRL event will look like, click on this link: http://reference.aol.com/space/rocket-racing.

There’s been so much interest in the RRL from Hollywood that we collaborated with the acclaimed William Morris Agency to help out! Our first team, Leading Edge Rocket Racing, is working together with Challenger Space Centers, and they’ve hired their first team pilot!

If you’ll be in New York this summer, check out the Rocket Racing League exhibit on display at the Intrepid Museum. http://www.intrepidmuseum.org/pages/triumphofvision.

Rocket Racing League was at the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin last month. Check out the pictures on our website. We also plan to be at the Reno Air Races September 13-17th. You’ll have opportunities there to purchase exciting new Rocket Racing League merchandise. Meanwhile, you can also purchase commemorative shirts, caps and other items at our new online store!

Read all about these new happenings and more in this issue of X-Racer. As always, we welcome your ideas and suggestions and thanks for your support!

This looks exciting. But could it become the NASCAR of Air Racing?

These rocket planes look like they are from Star Wars or something but they will begin racing on October 1, 2007!

Unfortunately we'd better prepare ourselves for some ghoulish crash videos, though.
