I just spent 3 or 4 hours on this Babel music video. I'm very pleased with it, and unless you have some constructive criticism or praise, i'd appreciate it if we keep sarcasm and mocking out of this thread.

Thanks, and enjoy the video.

Constructive criticism: I recommend you watch the movie before putting together a music video. If you have seen it, then you need to be more careful with your edits. I understand the non-linear timeline, but there needs to be a reason for it.

Praise: The videography is top notch

Question: What compelled you to create this music video? I see a couple others on YouTube (someone actually put one together to a Cindi Lauper song ).

Question: What software did you use to edit the video? We just started using Avid Xpress Pro at work.

I've seen the movie three times. As I was making the video, I designed each section of the video to fit the music. It was more of a "in the moment" thing, than an overall design of a timeline for the whole video. But thanks for bringing it to my attention. I also made sure to have an equal amount of shots from each country. Each 4 shots are from the 4 different stories. There are never two clips from the same storyline, in a row.

What compelled me to create this video? Well, a few reasons. I wanted a way to show people how great the movie is, besides just showing them the trailer. I don't think the trailer gets intense enough. Also I love making videos like this, with music that I love, set to a movie that I love.

I used iMovie. I still use iMovie for everything. I have the entire movie up in the clip pane. I have the audio track (the mozart) in the audio track at the bottom. Then I copy the entire movie, still inside the clip pane, so I have two of them in the clip pane. Then I cut the copy down to the shot I want, and drag it down to it's place above the audio. Then I copy the original movie again and repeat. It takes forever to extract audio, so in this case I just unchecked the box on the right of the video track, disabling the audio for that track.

Thanks for your interest.

Oh, and can you give me the links to some of the others you saw? I couldn't find any. Thanks.

I think Ashlee Simpson's "Pieces of Me" would have worked better.

That could actually be fun.

By the way that guys video isn't that great. He didn't edit it that much. He has portions that go on forever exactly like the film, he just changed the soundtrack.
