That doesn't mean they actually sell. Some dude was trying to sell a fanless G3 iMac for $600 a few days ago, around here.

I did see a G3 iMac snow for $899 the other day. Wish I saved the link. I'm sure they don't sell.

My favorite are the Nikon guys on CL who want 1000 for an N8008 with a 28-80 and 70-210... for those who aren't Nikon-obsessed, an N8008 is worth maybe $75 on CL, the 28-80 $50 and the 70-210 $50 or so

I will throw in Toast DVD/CD writing software [retail cost more than $200]
Ha ha! The guy is clearly trolling for idiots. Heck, if you could sell that Mac for that price, wouldn't you?

I saw a Beige G3 a few months ago for $450.
Why the high price? He was including software, such as Aldus Pagemaker! :-\

I see this time after time after time. People have a totally inflated idea of what their stuff is worth.
"But, I paid $xxxx for it."
"well, now it's worth $x. Sorry."

Yeah, that Pismo pricing is stupid, but nonetheless, you basically have to inflate your prices there somewhat, because no matter what, the prices you'll get offered are significantly less than the asking price.
Let's say something is worth $700 (like a relatively recent G4 Mac laptop). If you advertise it for $850 on Craigslist, you might get an offer for $700 fairly quickly. If you advertise it for $700, you'll get a bazillion offers for $500 and may eventually get $650 for it.
BTW, off topic but... Some recent scam emails I got on CL, from two different scammers:
Hello,
Please I will like to know if your item is still available. I want to buy it for a son as a Birthday gift.Email me as soon as you can so that we can proceed because I'll be leaving town in few days time
Thanks,
Todd Johnston

That one didn't sound that bad, as he sounded like he might have wanted to buy it while he was in my town. But then I got this email from a different address, from Slyvester:
Hello Dear,
Please I'll like to know if your [Apple iMac G5] is still available. I want to buy it for my Spouse as an Easter present. Hope it's in good state and working well. Email me immediately so that we can proceed because I'll be Leaving town soon. I'm willing to pay as soon as possible to enable it get to her.
Let me hear from you as soon as possible.
Regards,

I guess these guys are recycling scam emails, and just changing a few things here and there. Anyways, I responded to the first guy saying that I only would sell locally, and this is what I got:
Hi,
Thanks for your email response; I am in Wisconsin right now, but will be leaving for London soon for a coaching job in a few days time.
The item is for my son's birthday present; he travelled to spend time with his mum where she works in the US Consulate office in West Africa .
I'll be paying you through Storm-pay money order as soon as you make your decision and final price/shipping cost; it's secure and protects two parties in a transaction.I will like you to provide the below requirements in your reply for me to send it to storm-pay Office for payment before you ship it, I'll have to add $300 extra for you to send it to him as soon as possible.
Full Name:
Full Contact Address:
Tel Number:
All this information should be provided correctly please to avoid wrong payment. I will forward my wife residential address to you for shipping as soon as the payment reaches you.I will be very grateful to hear from you soon.
Best Regard
