not sure if it is real or not, but wasn't there a rumour going around that apple were going to use a combo flash / traditional HDD in the next line of macs?

something about having OSX on a 16gb bit of flash memory and all the user data on the HDD, that way it makes the OS faster in operation and start up. or did i make that up?

Eh, it'll happen soon enough. I'd rather have the tech be reliable then gimmicky and "new" trendy. It would be nice to have a laptop option for this, or a ultra light macbook. But you know, I may as well wish for wings.

Too bad they cost way too much money.

the cost is coming down on the 20GBs. just not practical for how much crap people install on their machines

80s and 120s are out in small batches but cost lots. the 40s will be in tablets this fall for consumers with just a slight premium. 40GB is plenty for full install of windows xp with sp2, office 2007, email and 2 or 3 apps. perfect for teachers and travelers.
