Keith Richards: `I Snorted My Father'

LONDON (AP) - Keith Richards has acknowledged consuming a raft of illegal substances in his time, but this may top them all.

In comments published Tuesday, the 63-year-old Rolling Stones guitarist said he had snorted his father's ashes mixed with cocaine.
Have you ever snorted a family member or a loved one? Here's your chance to share your experience.

"'Jelly Hat' sounds silly," I told Prince. "How about something poetic, like 'Raspberry Beret.'"

I snorted a bottle of pop once - drink it too fast and the bubbles go right up your nose.

All things considered, I would rather snort than blow.

Back in high school, my freind saved up all the little orange worms that you find every so often in Californian nugs, and smoked a bowl of them. Perhaps they were just covered with keef, but They did the trick. Kind of sick in hindsight, but meh, I regret nothing.

I'd like to snort Keith Richard's ashes. God only knows what that would do.

My friend "snorted" Poprocks and Coke. We were joking about the old rumors when we were kids, so he took a mouthfull and started to drink some of his Coke. My brother said something hilarious, and my friend blew the Poprocks and Coke out his nose when he tried to contain his laugh.

He said it hurt for about an hour, which made it even more funny.

Silly mortals! Don't you realize that snorting your own father's ashes is the key to everlasting life? I mean look at the dude, he's here to stay.

That's only because they mastered the art of Egyptian mummification on a living body.

You know the old quote:

"The truly evil thing about heroin is that it doesn't always kill you. Sometimes it just turns you into Keith Richards."

Looks like now he's saying it was all a joke.

http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a.../70404048/1035

Off the cuff or up the nose? That was the question Wednesday as Keith Richards said he was joking when he described snorting his father's ashes along with a hit of cocaine.
"It was an off-the-cuff remark, a joke, and it is not true. File under April Fool's joke," said Bernard Doherty, a Rolling Stones spokesman, about Richards' quote in NME magazine.

But the magazine said on its Web site that the remark was "no quip, but came about after much thinking" by the 63-year-old guitarist.

"He didn't offer the information, I had to ask him a couple of questions to get the information out of him," said interviewer Mark Beaumont. "He didn't come straight out with that."

In the interview, Richards was quoted as saying: "The strangest thing I've tried to snort? My father. I snorted my father."

"He was cremated and I couldn't resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. My dad wouldn't have cared ... It went down pretty well, and I'm still alive."

Richards' father, Bert, died in 2002, at 84.

In a statement posted on the Rolling Stones Web site, Richards said:

"The complete story is lost in the usual slanting! The truth of the matter is that I planted a sturdy English Oak. I took the lid off the box of ashes and he is now growing oak trees and would love me for it!!! I was trying to say how tight Bert and I were. That tight!!! I wouldn't take cocaine at this point in my life unless I wished to commit suicide."
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

The correction by management was probably to offset possible future hassles, such as Keith being banned in Canada/Mozambique/Wherever for recently admitted drug use. I tend to believe the first report.

"'Jelly Hat' sounds silly," I told Prince. "How about something poetic, like 'Raspberry Beret.'"

I don't know, I tend to believe he was messing with the interviewer. I know I would be if I were him.
