Just got a new Samsung washing machine, and the first time we turned it on it was fine until the spin cycle kicked in and it decided to walk across the room (its in a small room) smash two vases and gouge a piece of the wall out.
Any ideas on how to stop this happening?

front loader or top loader?
if its front, make sure you read the directions, it most likely has a suspention for the tumbler I want to say for shipping they brace the tumbler and the brace must be removed before firing her up.
Also at least on ours, it sense when its unblanced and doesn't continue the final spin cycle but slows down till its ballanced.
Other then that no clue

Make sure it's not set to Rinse & Destroy.

"'Jelly Hat' sounds silly," I told Prince. "How about something poetic, like 'Raspberry Beret.'"

Did you set it to murder?
I hope someone posts a pic of the knob being set to murder. That'd be funny.

Its a front loader, even with spin on the lowest setting it goes crazy.
Will check for shipping bolts.

adjust the feet until it's level and has no wobble.
If that doesn't help or you have crap floors (e.g. cheap wooden floors that flex), there's rubber mats that go under the washer available at Ikea that will absorb much of the force and keep the machine in place.
Should these not be available in the U.S., or there not be an Ikea nearby, there's rubber soundproofing pads for pianos that should be available at your local piano dealer. They're not cheap, but stick one under each foot of the washing machine, and they work wonders.

Problem solved!
The contractor forgot to remove the shipping bolts when they installed it.
My dumb fault for not reading the manual, Apple really should make washing machines.

Stop setting your vases on top of it...
Though your story does lend itself to some entertaining visuals.

...It's got to be one of the most common mistakes in the home ...quite a laugh though (if you can avoid breakages, etc).
You should definately be able to select "crazy didn't read the instructions" mode once its been properly installed... the world would be a better place I tells thee!

This is the nearest to one. Unique looking, over engineered, better user experience, over twice as expensive as most of the market (£1199.99=$2,365.07), it ticks most of the usual 'Apple' product boxes.

I remember reading somewhere that all those 'fancy looking' appliances are pretty cheap underneath, and they usually break pretty often. You're better off going with the low end 'workhorse' model, as that's the one that they sell the most, so it's the most reliable, and builds their brands reputation in order to get people to spring for the fancy 'crap' model next time around.

If you want a washer that lasts, Miele all the way. Expensive to buy, but it will last forever and a day.
