Uh, it's the thing on the left…

I put the can there for scale.

It holds 12 ounces perfectly, I just don't know what it's for.

I thought it might be one of those tea-for-one things that fits atop a mug. That would explain the weird ridge around the middle.

I guess it is for measuring 12 ounces in ovens then.

Edit: so did it just appear in your home magically? I suspect the influence of superior beings.

Well when we bought this house it was full of tons of stuff. Mostly junk. This was one of the few things we saved, I thought it was kinda neat looking.

My first impression was something drug-related, it reminded me of the bowl on top of the hookah bong we had last summer.

No idea, but...

The Hull Pottery Company of Crooksville, Ohio was in business from 1905 to 1986. The company made a variety of items including jugs, bowls vases ashtrays and dinnerware to name a few. Hull vases are highly collectible.
... so I'd stick some flowers in it.

If anyone's interested I guess it's a carafe thingy.

I found one for sale for $36 bucks. I think it's kinda neat and I drink a lot of tea so maybe I'll just use it.

That's what the female alien uses to incubate her eggs. Stick it in the oven for an hour or so, and see what comes out!

It looks like it is from the 70's so it must have something to do with Fondu.

So is the whole point of the thing that it all fits together into an ugly little package?
