with a baby around I wouldn't risk it. the last thing you need is to get sick and then not be around to help out because you are stuck in bed.

Only one hour? It took a while for it to come to ambient temperatures. I wouldn't throw it out. I'd heat it up in the Microwave and eat it.

Once meat reaches 55 degrees, stuff starts growing in it. Stuff might be OK for you, but not for younger or older folks. Pitch it and be safe.

Pour coke on the wieners and see if little white worms crawl out.

Yeah, it could very well have spoiled. Give it away or toss it .

Anybody who throws food away because they left the fridge door open for an hour needs a kick in the pants.

I wouldn't feed said food to a baby or child, but I'd not hesitate to eat it myself. Beef is particularly resiliant.

Ground beef is not nearly as resilient as a steak though.

Wait...if you're not sure if your food is deadly, give it to someone else??

Not necessarily. It depends entirely on the cut and the condition of the beef. In a commercial kitchen the rule is: 90 minutes without refrigeration = dump it.

Professor R. Dale Guthrie ate frozen bison meat from a 36,000 year-old bison carcass he found in Alaska:
We had Blue Babe for dinner. The meat was well aged but still a little tough, and it gave the stew a strong Pleistocene aroma, but nobody there would have dared miss it.
So hey, what's 60 minutes?

What he said.
