Wondering if an Apple Store bag is good enough for camping. You know--the bag with the two hoops so you can wear it on your back like a knapsack? For the true minimalist, is this the way to go?

Depends on how long you expect it to last.

Are we really talking minimal here or cheap and lazy?

I used an apple bag like that to carry some ties home last week. I wouldn't even think about using it for camping.

Depends on what type of camping - what are you going to be doing? Why are you taking your laptop on a camping trip!?

Are you asking if the bag is good enough to carry all of your camping gear into the woods, including tent, sleeping bag, clothing, and food?

Seriously?!?

Is this what you are asking?

I'm guessing you could, but it would stink.

Also, a minimalist would already own a backpack as it's a fantastic multi-purpose item (hauls groceries home, it's your luggage, etc.

If you're planning on taking a lady with you I'd think about getting a tent. They like their creature comforts that way.

Of course, if it's just a drinking weekend with Abbo then all you really need is whatever type of bag the off-licence provided you with when you bought the vodka. And a roadside ditch.

I could see that being used on a light hiking trip. Nothing that will last more than half a day. They are fairly sturdy bags, but wont be good for the long term camping trip.

What?

How would a tent even fit in there? It wouldn't even really fit your food alone.

I've also found the Apple bags to be great for pickin up after your dog(s) on a walk. You know, the little (BIG) diddles they leave behind? Well the Apple bags are nice and sturdy, so they wont tear in mid pickup, getting diddle all over your fingers. Plus, the warmth of the diddle doesn't seep through the plastic as easily as those cheap-o grocery store bags.

And at the end of the day a little diddle on the Apple logo is strangely satisfying.

Am I right?

When I saw this title I thought he meant is it worth camping outside an Apple store for the limited number of "swag bags" they sell at new store openings.

Go buy something big like a MacBook or something from the Apple Store. Sometimes they have really large versions of those Apple bags. I used to put my washing in them and wear it like backpack when I lived in an apartment complex with a centralized washing machine room.

Dudes, how can we forget the most frugal traveler of them all.. the Hobo! The Hobo travels around the whole damn country with nothing more than the clothes on his/her back, and a stick with a handkerchief tied to it to keep stuff in.

I'm certain an Apple bag would serve the same purpose.

It would be fine for a day trip, but the OP specifically said camping. For one day the Apple bag might just do it... for two? Probably not.
