You guys are pretty much the best on the net - you've answered all my tough questions ... except for the 'meaning of life' and I'm saving that one for last!

I have a question I’ve been thinking about asking you all day that I could use your advice with. My boss here is leaving and he’s offered to sell me his Mac Mini. I’d been thinking of getting one myself for some time, and I wanted to know what you thought. I don’t have the complete specs, but I’ll get those from him soon.

So, basically I’ve been looking at getting a Mini so I could use it in a set up very similar to this:

• Mac Mini G4 (don’t know the processor speed)
• 1 GB RAM
• 80 GB Hard Drive
• OSX 10.4
• possible asking price - $350 to $400

Also, the used Mini was originally bought refurbished.

Anyway, the full specs on the new Mini look like it’s a machine that will have a much longer life ahead of it before obsolescence.

Actually, as I’m writing this I’m thinking that I should just get the new one.  This is looking more and more like a free-flow train of thought..

SO, what do you guys think? I'm at a loss on this one.

Overpriced. Get a new one. (maybe not too overpriced, but for just a few hundred more you'd have one with more legs)

Only $200 less than a new Mini? I'd get a new one unless you need to run Classic or have very minimal needs.

Get a new one. The Intel processors are far superior to the old G4, that alone would kill the deal for me instantly.

Sad but true. I wouldn't pay more than $150 for it. It may be worth more, but the new one is so superior.
