I'm new to Ebay and just the other day put a Sidekick III on there in hopes of selling it. I have yet to receive any messages from people who aren't scam artist. I almost got screwed over by agreeing to make a transaction outside of Ebay from a woman with a good story. She managed to send an payment confirmation email from a online payment company saying that the money went through. I send the package and got online to send the company the tracking number so that I could get my money. They told me to cancel the shipment immediately b/c I had no transaction with them and that this woman was a scam artist. By that time the post office was closed and I had shipped this overnight so that it would be there the next day before noon. My mom had the idea to go to the airport Post Office and luckily they managed to find my package and I got it back. Anyway, her email address was "cutie69@tmail.com" and the Ebay name is "montanabearhunter." Just thought I would leave that to help other Ebay people out there along with the copy of the email I am about to post.

If you report them to eBay, you won't have to post their usernames here, as their accounts will be deleted.

My advice: If anybody on the Internet starts talking to you about "fear of God," they're a scammer.

How was your account hacked? Keylogger on a Windows machine or did you visit a fake page that tricked you into logging in?

Only one solution eBay has to do.

Block all access to Nigerians.

It's a scam. He sent a fake email paypal payment, giving the impression to the bait, in this case itai195. The email told itai195 that he had received payment for the item, when in fact when itai195 actually checked his paypal account he found that the money was never deposited. It was fake. When buyers make payment to a seller, paypal sends and email telling them that payment has been made. It looks real, so unless you actually check, your screwed.

There are alot of legitimate deals on ebay, you just have to be very careful.

I just ignore those things from eBay. It's pretty easy to tell the scammers. What's bugged me is the people that don't read that I only accept PayPal and they buy my item and thn expect to send a check. I've been selling a lot of little odds and ends to help pay for my new MacPro and that's happened to me 3 times last week.

I'm going to post my G5 on there tomorrow and I'm a little worried. Just because of all the stories you hear. I'll just make sure that if they pay with money order that they know I'll give it time to clear. Also ship with FexEx/UPS.

Say what? You only accept Paypal but if they pay with money order that's okay?

Okay, I wasn't clear, all the little small things. I'll do a money order for the G5 because it'll save me some cash on the paypal fees.

The point is people don't read the payment methods that are posted on the page.

I've sold one thing on eBay over the last year, and at least a couple dozen on craigslist. It's so much simpler, easier, honest and cheaper.

don't get me started on scammers, and ebay; I officially have my user name taken out of commission in two months (they make you wait 6 months for it to be taken off the active user list in case you "change your mind") because I had two really nasty scams in a row happen with my auctions.

FWIW, I used to look for eBay scammers and hacked accounts all the time in order to report them, and it seems like more and more accounts get hacked every day.

eBay lets you set a passphrase instead of a single-word password. I changed my password to a four-word passphrase awhile back for extra security, and all the security nuts I know in IT have said that it's pretty much impossible with current technology to crack a passphrase - the number of letters and spaces greatly increases the time it would take to crack such a password.
For all the trash I talk, I sure own a lot of Macs...

haha yea I'm done with eBay and all that stuff. Somehow my account got hacked into and the asshole that did it was trying to buy a Rolls Royce on my account.
PayPal sent an email that someone was trying to get into my account with them from some foreign IP address so I just canceled that as well. Too risky.

I do admit the last video I posted was cute but not all that entertaining. I was completely wowed when judge judy ended the case with "judgement for the plantiff in the amount of $5000!" I was totally shocked.

I really don't see how this is that complicated. Only accept paypal or money orders. Only ship within the USA. Only ship to peope with over 5+ feedback. I've had no problems, except for some stupid asian retard who sold me a bunk hard drive for my ipod, then wouldn't refund me, even though his action said "GUARANTEED" on it, he claimed 'no returns'. I still don't understand why he typed 'guaranteed' if he would not refund someone if his product was junk.

You do realize that that mail was in all probability a scam and that if you followed the link in that mail you've given away your paypal details now?
