How are we supposed to sneek into the forum at work when that #%*@!!! woman shouts "congratulations, you have been selected to receive a free ipod nano."
MacNN - silence those ads.

Heh...I have the ad servers redirected to 127.0.0.1 in my /etc/hosts file - I haven't seen a MacNN ad in years.

Sometimes she even tells you that you've won an Xbox 360. I hate those ads.

To their credit, MacNN does a pretty good job of removing the more annoying ads when they are notified.
Personally, at least on my underpowered ibook, I just block all the ads because they drain my battery by maxing out my cpu.

Heh, nah, I just use pre-built ones and copy-paste every couple of months (and add my own if they really annoy me).

Well, this method works for every browser (or, indeed, anything that uses a network connection), doesn't need upgrading because something else got upgraded and is now incompatible, is free, and is easily deployed to the 1,400+ computers I manage (and allows me to be the one maintaining it).
So, it works best for me.

I really don't like them. Somtimes I open several links in tab and it starts talking and I can't find on which tab it is. Annoying.
