Hey Hey!

I received my first mac today! I ended up getting a mint condition powerbook in my sig.

I haven't used a mac since...err..a mac classic, basically. That should put it in perspective.

Anyway..nobody cares, but I got her up and running and I'm already loving it!

YEE-HAW!

That will be all. Take care

why thank you. Guess what...IT'S ACTUALLY WORKING!

Right after I paid for my powerbook..my windows xp laptop just MAGICALLY lost wireless access. I plugged in my ethernet cable and it still wouldn't even connect to the network.

It's nice to have something that actually works. Go figure.

Congrats, and welcome!

I have similar problem with my XP desktop as well, Windows keep searching for the "best" network so its a good day when I can get a stable connection lasting more than 10 mins.

That looks real nice. I think you'll enjoy it. You might want to get yourself a case to protect it.

Church was my first guess.

I didn't realize Lam supported teaching our children witchcraft.

Because people who don't have to use your computer thought it was a church?

I have no idea what that means so I'll take it as a compliment. On a sidenote, I finished seasons 1 and 2 of The Venture Bros. and now I'm lost on what to do at work.

I'll tell you you're an asshole, but I won't talk about your asshole. It's that kind of subtle differentiation that allows for my continued presence and the copious amounts of praise that are heaped upon me each day.

6 Days? Is that even long enough to be considered on the wagon?

Woo! Thanks, Lammy.

Actually, there's a story as to why I haven't had a Mountain Dew in 6 days...

Something is wrong with the latest batch of Dew. I had what I thought was a bad 12-pack at my house, but then noticed that a 20 oz. from the store tasted just as horrible. Then I bought another 12-pack with the same results. It's so disgusting that I called Pepsi, who said that I was the only person to call and complain, so it must be just me. I told them I've been a Dew fanatic for about 8 years, and that I'd never tasted it like this. Several people tasted the bad Dew and agreed with me.

I'm just waiting for the Dew to taste like Dew again.

Dew is great! But lately I've been on a crazy Root Beer kick. Considering I really haven't had root beer in about 2 years, it's a little odd.

I still haven't figured out exactly how to install an app. haha. If I d/l a .dmg to my desktop. Do I double click THAT first, then drag something into my apps folder?

Or..do I drag the .dmg into the apps folder first?

Oh, you've discovered the joys of the DMG. Welcome to the Mac OS!

Anyways, yes, double click the DMG file, it will mount a "virtual disc" to your desktop. Open that up and you will find either an installer or something to drag and drop to your apps folder or whatever.

.DMG is basically a self-contained ISO that you can open on any OS X Mac without additional software.

You can make your own using the Disk Utility program in the Utilities folder.

Also, here's Shapeshifter, it's a shareware program for customizing your GUI:

[unsanity] ShapeShifter - Change the look of Mac OS X by applying themes and more!

And here're some themes: InterfaceLIFT: ShapeShifter Mac OS X Themes (by date)

I think those need to be clarified somehow. I know people that have MSN messenger in their dock, but it's the version inside of the dmg, so whenever they open MSN it mounts the image.
