That last statement is what you call "teeing it up" for someone. Someone knock it out of the park, please.

I love the truck shots, Railroader. I do wish there were some more shots with the mud flying up like in #1. That shot would be perfect if the center of focus was at about even with the front of the windshield. It looks like you got the bed in that one (I know the difficulties with nailing the focus on quick-moving objects with an XTi).

I agree with the straightening advice, BTW.
Here's a link to the gallery with 50+ shots of the same truck. Nothing like a little overkill eh?

As you can see, it was a bit muddy out and I had some good clothes on, or else I probably would have been laying in the mud taking better shots from a better perspective.

We call it "lobbing in a softball" around here.

I WILL be straightening up that picture pronto.

Hmm... not quite...

How about this: I also cropped it and adjust the levels for a little more contrast

Please, do NOT misunderstand me, I really like the shot. Really really like it. I just want it to be even better.

It looks like the kind of shot you see selling in a shop that sells ready to hang pictures preframed.

I don't know, I think mdc's has more depth in it. Bumping the contrast kinda messes with the atmospheric perspective. It seems flatter to me now.
Astronomy has discovered the schnapps in space. Someone, he or she, had hidden it behind intergalactic clouds, probably marked for safety by a creative hand, so the space cleaning lady will not take delight in it. Sometime the clouds will breakup for me, and the beautiful women waiting behind feed me with truthful truffles. Finally water me with the essence of their heavenly appearance, until everything glows ruby red around me.

Railroader, I don't take any offense or anything regarding your constructive criticism.
After reading your thoughts and straightening the image I feel that it looks nicer straight.

I like your contrast on the snow, but not on the trees. I feel that contrast somewhere in the middle of our versions would be a happy medium.

Thank you for the compliments and constructive criticism.

I think you're quite right here.

You're welcome, it's the reason I started the thread, so we can all get better.

I was on this old dirt road yesterday that we used to go drinking at in high school. I snapped off some pics of the sun setting. The few pics I took didn't come out exactly like I wanted, but I kept one and adjusted it in RAW to my liking. Little crazy looking, I sort of like it though:

nice pics erik, pano's not enjoyable though, too small!

These were taken today. I'm sure I think I could get much better shots since these guys rule my backyard, but eh.

I sort of guessed from the titles and feeling of intimacy (and the fact that you’ve been talking about her for ages).

Congrats, then.

Anything exceeding two weeks qualifies as being ‘for ages’ to me, so yes.

I just couldn't recall where I did that here. I probably have mentioned her just couldn't remember where.

Allow me to distract you with some further shots:
