Not seeing the irony. I thought the shot itself was fairly average. The aggressive editing seems to be what made it popular.

I found it amusing that you "raised" my photo with the very next one I was editing.

True. The expression "raised" wasn't meant to mean that my photo was necessarily better. I just happened to have a peacock photo on Flickr myself 
Anyway it turns out I lied. This photo got to #35 on the Flickr 500 top most interesting photos:
