Evidence that they can't throw, of course.
She was trying to hit you. And didn't. Therefore, girls cannot throw.

They can throw fits, throw up after two beers, throw stuff back in your face, throw their weight around, throw themselves at you, throw you out... but a ball? Not a chance.

Ummmm. Because their elbows have a slightly different geometry from male elbows, females throw differently. Do NOT say they "can't" throw, or a fast pitch softball pitcher is going to bean you something awful!
Really, it's all a matter of training and geometry.

How come mods feel compelled to respond to jocose threads with a kind of literal-minded parental seriousness?
O behold the inevitable onus of mod earnestness.

I was holding my tongue, because I think I've commented on gh doing this before. But yeah, he tends to take questions not put forth in earnest and answer them as if they were. I try not to speculate as to why.

you should meet my friend, the fastpitch softball pitcher. she threw a hacky sack at me one time and it left a massive bruise on my back and hurt like a bitch for at least 2 weeks solid.
girls can throw, most just haven't practiced the skill. have you noticed that some males can't throw for the same reason?

Yeah, sorry. It is limiting in many regards, but it also helps helps the forums clean with a uniform look. There was a push for slightly larger sigs a while back, but I'm not sure they're necessary. I figured I'd give you a heads up before the mods did.

Girls can throw. It generally stems from what physical activities they take apart of as kids. Boys tend to do baseball, football, etc., while girls will tend to ballet, gymnastics, etc. It boils down to gendertyping and what is considered acceptable for men and women.
Girls active in sports such as baseball, softball, football, cricket, and others are perfectly capable of throwing a ball.
Softball pitches, by the way, are thrown underhand and are clocked at 60+ mph. I think the fastest underhand softball pitch was close to 75 mph.

Because however jocose this thread was intended, it's still a stupid question to ask. And I wasn't responding as much as a mod as a person who doesn't see the humor in pointing out something that's more a culturally incited difference than a real difference. Plus, my profession is mostly female, my wife's profession is also mostly female, and I still don't see any reason to point and snicker like some grade school kid.

Maybe I overreacted, but I LIKE women, and I don't giggle and make fun of them like some 6th grader. I guess I'm not cut out for "guys' humor" like this.
