Hi guys, I'll be there in late september for 3-5 days. I heard it is a majestic place. I've been googling for a cheap but cute bed and breakfast with not that much success. Any Norwegian around that may have some input? Thanks

(I do not even know if posting in a place like this is correct, I hope you're flexible with the lounge purposes)

Ah Bergen, it is a beautiful city! I don't know about any cheap place to stay though.. things are relatively expensive in Norway. If you can find a place for 500 NOK per night, you got yourself a good deal.

hahahaha

Well, it is only a long weekend. It is just a matter of bringing the right clothing, besides I'm sure there are good bars and restaurants where to get a nice warm dinner and some drinks afterwards.

But still, any tips for the B&B? and now that two members mentioned knowing the place, any spots I should visit? I love the outdoors.

takk

Don't know about B&B, but some must see places are Fløyen (take the funicular up one of the seven mountains surrounding the city for a stunning panorama). And of course you'll get to see world heritage site Bryggen.

Seconding Erik, I would like to add that you have to buy some Hansa Fatøl. It is the best beer in northern Europe!! MMmmMMm

I didn't stay at a B&B in Bergen, so I can't really comment on that.

Oh. Bring money. Lots of it. No matter how expensive you think it's going to be, you are going to get a shock.

Beer is relatively cheap at Kvarteret (student-bar), Garage (famous rock-club), Fotballpuben (ridicolous sports-bar) and Bergen Café Dubliner (irish pub). Going out, I hear the best club is Metro (Ole Bulls Plass), but if there's a concert on, you should definitely go to Hulen (The Cave). It's literally a cave (old bunker) deep in the mountains with bars and stages. Well recommended!

Steer away from most places around Bryggen, as prices are extremely high.

And here's a website with nightlife and accomodation:
Bergen Guide, Norway - the tourist guide to the city of Bergen in Norway / Europe, Norway Norge
