A dramatization of what our cat, Bowser, got himself into last night...

It was a normal evening at our house, just like any other, but something was missing. "Where's Bowser?" Larry said to me. To which I reply "I haven't seen him, he's not with you?" Just then, we hear a familiar meow, but from where?

The hunt begins.

"Bowser!" we shout through the house. "C'mere Bowser – I've got treats," I say, while shaking the Pounce treats can. "Meooooow" we hear again. "It sounds like he's inside the walls," Larry says. Just then, Larry remembers – he removed a ceiling tile in our bedroom to fix some plumbing overhead!!! – could it be possible?? So, we head to our room to investigate. After removing several ceiling tiles, we hear our little buddy call for help again "Rescue me, Find me!!" (or "Meow" to the untrained ear) The sound is coming from the Hallway. I press my ear to the wall "B, are you in there?" Meow again, but not from the wall – from the STAIRS!

The rescue attempt is on.

Larry runs to the garage to gather tools. I, being the photojournalist I am, run to get my camera to capture the event. Larry returns with a crowbar, a hammer, and a flashlight. "We're coming for ya, buddy!" Larry shouts to his favorite furry friend. "Meow," B shouts back. And just like that Larry jams the crowbar into the steps, and gives it a good whack – CRACK! – the wood breaks, a small price to pay for the safe return of our brave little kitty. We shine the light into the vast dark hole, and THERE HE IS!!! Just like Baby Jessica stuck in the well, our brave little soldier emerged from his dark solitude, and hugged his Daddy.

Another happy ending.

Pictures from the rescue:

yike! good thing you found him!

we once lost a tile in an apartment bathroom, and the cat explored in there, under the tub, in the walls. Luckily she couldn't get any further than the bathroom. We called animal control and they couldn't get her out, even with the long noose-thingy. She came out a few hours later after she was bored I guess.

This happened to one of my families cats when I was a child. He was up in our roof for about 2 days, but eventually came down on his own.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Leopard cat. I'm not a cat person, and for the longest time I thought there were only two species of cat: Those that eat you and those that wish they could but just ignore you instead. But I dated a girl that had a couple of these once, and she insisted that's what they are called and there are many kinds of cats.

Actually, it's a Bengal. A special breed of house cats that look like leopards. I have one as well. Damn thing is a little terror.

Yes. We've got one, although he's more of a couch potato than a terror. Funny post, Mrs. Larry. Glad he's ok.

One of cats did the same thing a few years back. Got stuck under inside the second story floor. Sigh...

The best was when that same cat got 'locked' in the basement (for bad behavior), he would run around the rafters of the basement following people as they walked around the first floor. Cats.

Bingo! It's a domestic housecat bred with an asian leopard cat (about 5 generations ago) This cat is more like a dog - he follows my fiance around religiously, sits on his shoulder like a pirate's parrot, and meows (or yodels as most bengal owners refer to it - meooooooooow) like there's no tomorrow when he leaves the house.

The problem with him "getting out the way he got in" was that he slide down a slanted wall (under the stairs, behind a closet) through a small opening to the bottom, without an intricate series of ropes and pulleys, I don't think he could have made it out himself.

Yes yes, I realized that this morning. I couldn't remember what they were called so I did a search for leopard cat, first link was the wiki and it looked like the right one. I had left that search page open last night, and if I had botherred to look at... oh I don't know, the second result, I would have got it right. Plus I'd been drinking, hence the assed up attempt at making that link. My bad. Told you I wasn't a cat guy.

^^ whoa, MrsLarry's post should have been timestamped earlier, right? If not, you are a psychic and should go into business photoshopping people's cat costumes before you know what they are.

No, Dakar posted his 'chop before I posted the costume... his name is Bowser, so it's not that big of a stretch...

His response to the costume pic DID get timestamped incorrectly, though.

It should have been a head of the post directly proceeding it, but the photoshopped pictures are at the correct time.

Ug, the Bengal Wail is what we call it here. I have a full breed and a half breed. The friends that I got both of them from have four full breeds.

I've tried everything to get my pure from pissing in my plants. Water bottles, super soakers, cayenne pepper and swats on the ass don't deter her. Stubborn little thing. She is too damn cute to stay mad at though.

My pure has the agility of a three legged elephant. However, my half has amazing agility. I think because her tail is extremely long (12" - 13") compared to her body (16" - 17").
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

Bengal Wail -

B had trouble for awhile, and still does from time to time... if we leave a box on the floor - or a laundry basket, for that matter - sometimes he just can't help himself, and pees in it.

As far as agility goes, I've seen him jump from the floor to my 6'2" fiance's shoulder in one graceful swoop. I've also seen him trip over his own feet just walking.

Does your Bengal scoop his water in his paw to drink?

She used to until I bought a different water dish. She also has a tendancy to stick her head in the water dish still.

My friends have been using this water dish and they like it a lot, so do the cats. This is the one I've been using and works well also.

All the cats eat Felidae, which has four sources of protein and no corn, wheat or soy filler.
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

One of my cats will scoop milk out of a glass with her paw. She'll stick her paw all the down in there to get some. It's both cute and disgusting at the same time.

I've got a ton of great cat pics that really need to be on the interweb with funny captions. Maybe we should start some home-made MacNN cat pics.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Apparently I'm Super Mario illiterate. Huh, so that's Bowser.
Peter, I think that's the first non-LOL cat I've seen you post in ages (ever?)

Man, this thread makes me want a cat (for the dog to play with). My wife is allergic, though, so it'd have to be just the right cat...

have her test her allergies with some siamese, burmese, or himalayan. They have different dander and someone I know with really bad cat allergies was able to have a siamese no problem.
