Seriously, I know that this will probably get moved pronto but the smartest folks seem to be here and what I need is this: DVD or CD labeler software (to make a label) for Memorex CD and DVD blank labels. Everything I download is crap and has a watermark across the face unless I pay. Okay, so I paid like over a year ago and now it no longer works the right way and why pay again? The company wants me to pay again for the latest version. ANY IDEAS ARE MUCH APPRECIATED FROM YOU MAC GURUS. I have the darned labels and have no idea which program to use. Yes, I'll spring the bucks for a good program but would prefer free...and one that WORKS.

And anyway, why are they making me pay for their latest version? I guess that's what's got me riled.

Thanks.

I don't know, I've always made my own in OmniGraffle or even Pages or Gimp. Just measure it up, then a couple of trial prints to line up, and you're done.

I gave those guys $39.95 for it over a year ago. Now the code doesn't work. Emailed 'em and they said to pay again since they have a new management team or something like that.

I guess I can line it up, but I want the writing to go around in a semi-circle.

But maybe that's what I'll have to do. Come to think of it, I have Pages. Is it decent?

Thanks for the input.

You can use any image app - just measure the margins around the label on the sheet, the diameter of the label, etc.

I should warn, though, that adhesive labels spell a definite early death for recordable CDs and DVDs. The adhesive quickly deteriorates the foil layer that allows "burning" data to the disc, and your disc will become unreadable. Just use permanent markers to label your discs, or invest in a LightScribe burner and discs.
For all the trash I talk, I sure own a lot of Macs...

I second the suggestion to either use permanent markers or very soft (!) pencils. The only alternative are printable CD-Rs/DVD-Rs which are more expensive and you need a printer that can actually do that (e. g. a suitable Canon or Epson inkjet printer).
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Pages rocks. For most things, anyway.
