So, you don't wash, have few if any teeth left at 24, die at 26 if you're a woman (most probably during childbirth) or at 35 if you're a man (most probably in an accident or in a violent confrontation) and you're calling that fun?

The Society for Creative Anachronism, or SCA, is the biggest one.

Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. if you're interested.

We used to have a Hamlet in my town, but I don't think it's active anymore. They occasionally make appearances at the Celtic Fair.

You just won this:

"Everything's so clear to me now: I'm the keeper of the cheese and you're the lemon merchant. Get it? And he knows it.
That's why he's gonna kill us. So we got to beat it. Yeah. Before he let's loose the marmosets on us."

That would be "Dungeon," thank you very much. And just to drive my point home, I've traveled through time by slingshotting around the sun in my Klingon space ship.

The Sun = KFC
Time = Drive-through
Klingon Spaceship = 80s van with a picture of a woman in a leopard-print bikini air-brushed on it

Joke's on you. It's a picture of a woman in a 2-piece chainmail armor slaying a dragon!

I go to Ren Faires, but I'm not a reenactor. Not enough time in the day to be properly attired and equipped. Besides, most faire goers lately are more interested in fantasy than history-particularly at the faire I go to every year. Chicks in chainmaile are a LOT more fun than accurate clothing and such... Yow! Oh, and the "ample bosom" part seems to be a fun activity for both genders; see how much breast you can fit into one, two, maybe even THREE cup sizes smaller garments...

The occasional 400 pound woman who thinks she looks great in a chainmaille bikini is more than counterbalanced by the 20-25 year old girls/young women who wear their own idea of Medieval risqué clothing - and their ideas of risqué are a lot more to my liking!

Plus there's the drink. I have been able to sample a lot of wines and beers I'd never have noticed because of what the vendors at the faire sell. Meade is, of course, a biggie, but GOOD European beers show up quite often, as do some really interesting wines. Suffice to say that for me and my group (NEVER go alone! It's more fun in a group.) being sober all day is not the main objective.

So if interacting with interesting people (almost half of them young women who want you to know that they are definitely mammals), eating and drinking interesting foods and beverages, watching some really talented performers, and enjoying the fresh air and sunshine for a day or two qualify me as a "dork" fine. I don't think so.
