Well I thought I'd drop by and show off my new wheels. I drove 5 hours to Illinois yesterday to pick it up, but it's completely worth it.
Drive-by
1999 SVT Contour
200hp 2.5L V6 with a 5 speed
80,000 miles
Leather, sunroof, keyless, etc.
I picked it up for $2500 under book, so I'm happy about that.

Have you ever hooked up with a girl in the backseat of a car? What about a guy?

No you're not; otherwise you wouldn't have done so.

Did you specifically want tinted windows? I'm always suspicious of people with tinted windows.

residentEvil, you could probably stop with the threadcrap. That's what OMM was sayin'. You sound misinformed because I know the Contour SVT to be a special car. And since I know what I'm talkin about, that's whats up. Dig? Unless of course, you don't care. In which case kindly exit the building and let us talk about sneaky track cars.
*edited cause I wasn't nice.

I clicked on the thread hoping for pictures of your new girlfriend. I'd make a disparaging remark about the car, but it looks pretty nice for a Contour.

I love the car, the handling's amazing, it's got power to spare, and it was priced like a Ford.
I've been on contour.org for a few years since my last car was a Mystique, and I've already got a thread going there about it too. Thanks for the comments Ice.
Design219, the windows aren't actually as dark as they look. I think because of the way the sun hit them they look darker.

Hmm, why do other countries always name their cars funnily?
To me, this is just a common Ford Mondeo family saloon, but I'm sure this car is a lot better. =/

Yep, it's pretty much the same as the Mondeo, but since it's an SVT it's closer to the ST200.

It appears to be missing two cylinders and about eight inches of ground clearance.

How did I miss this thread? Congrats! If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pick it up for? I'm always looking for one, but it seems most people want too much for them (over $4500). Also, BE WARY OF ONRAMPS. It seems these cars only have an oil pickup on the righthand side of the oil pan, so on extended right turns, all the oil slides over to the left side, and causes oil starvation= dead engine. And, I think the water pumps tend to explode, ruining the engine. But get a new improved waterpump and a baffled oilpan and you're set! What a fantastic car. I love the recaros and the shifter. I'm jealous. If you're in Milwaukee sometime I want a ride.

An SVT ford, capable of 140mph, 15.5s ( I think), and a duratec 200hp extrude honed V6. The suspension on them is marvelous, SVT admitted to trying to copy BMW's ride and handling qualities, and the interior sports leather recaros, all sorts of awesome stuff. It is a fantastic car, especially for the price, and it will smoke 90% of the cars on the road, really.
Now if we bring up your vehicles, which are trucks., we could discuss that you get shitty handling, braking, acceleration, and mpg all because you prefer them and don't actually have any real use for a truck. :|

No he didn't. He said he paid $2500 under bluebook. You can't get a contour SVT for $2500, unless it's beaten to a pulp, or is missing an engine.

Images are screwed for me right now, but congrats anyways. I have a liking for fun sporty cars.
Matter of fact, I'll be trading in my Neon for another MX-5 soon.

I got it for $4550. I've been looking for SVTs for months and I set my ceiling at $4500. I'm happy with the low miles and the great shape that it's in, not to mention that people have no idea what it is.

Anyway, it just turned over 82,000 miles last night, and it's been great. I can fit 5 people in it for trips that aren't too long, and I've even stuffed 6 in there when I had to. The rear seats fold down so when I moved last week I fit my bicycle, a couple large speakers and a ton of misc stuff in there. I really really like this car. The only issue I have is that it's a bit low and the driveway of the house I moved into is quite steep...I have to enter at a severe diagonal angle to avoid scraping the exhaust tips.

Isn't 82,000 miles a bit for a girlfriend? Perhaps you should look at trading her in for a new model.

Hm...maybe my wording should have been a bit more clear. Carrying that analogy throughout the rest of the paragraph could be dangerous.

Huh. Yeah, it seems it's a good price to pay for them, because the only SVTs I've ever seen for under $4500 were pieces of junk.... once the reasonable ones get around $3500 I'm totally picking one up.

I watched a couple with 120,000 to 130,000 miles and not in quite the best shape go for $3500 to $4000 but I'm glad I waited.

I like it. I saw one on the highway a couple months back and it reminded me of how much I liked them when they came out. A lot has happened since then, and I like my '04 Acura TL better, but I like your payment a LOT better than mine. :-)
Enjoy it, thats a smart car.
