Hi all,
About a year ago I was listening to the radio during some live event and I could be wrong but I thought it was Dave Matthews Band on. Anyway, it was a rather long instrumental song, similar to "Jessica" by The Allman Brothers; just that happy guitar-type jam session. Before I go mad searching for it, would anyone know what it might be? It might not even be DMB.

Eh, even "a long instrumental song that Dave Matthews Band plays live" is far too broad a category to actually identify a song. They have extended intros and outros for like 90% of their songs that they play live. With the added uncertainty of who sang it, I have no dang clue.

Well, it was a whole song. No vocals.

Dear god...being a DMB fan, I thought I could answer this, but it's a bit too vague.

Don't they do any instrumentals? I mean, if I said "there's some instrumental that The Allman Brothers do" people can say "ah! Jessica!".

Try Cortez, the Killer during the Central Park concert. Warren Haynes from the Allman Brothers guest plays during that song. It's long and just might be the one you're looking for. And yes that's DMB.

That's the thing — they do a lot of instrumentals. They're kind of a jam band. There's at least one on every album, and several more that they play live. It's like saying "That song by Metallica with the pounding guitars."

Oh yeah... I saw DMB at a festival and it was just a 3 hour long jam session. Not kidding...over three hour long. Even my dyed in the wool DMB-fan friend said it was a bit tiring after the first two hours.

Strange, considering DMB isn't really a jam band. They'll jam out two or maybe three songs a night, but most songs come in at under 5 minutes.
Most shows don't last more than 2:20 either.

Actually there's only one on all of their albums - #34 on Under the Table and Dreaming. The only other song that comes close is Pantala Naga Pampa on Before These Crowded Streets, but that's more of an intro to Rapunzel than an entire song.
My guess is it's not a DMB song the OP is looking for, as they really don't do many instrumentals.

That's one of my all-time favorite intros. Love it!
