These new Taser things are freakin crazy! The videos are over at Gizmodo at the moment, so you can go see the madness for yourself, and that Shockwave thing they want to put out will surely put a dent in any large crowd event 
I can totally see this sort of thing getting out of hand. Daisy chaining those Shockwaves and using them against a crowd will only make things worse in my opinion (especially as their single shot, and after the first wave of victims goes down the rest will run riot all over who shot at them).

If its that kind of crowd there'd be tear gas as well.
I really like that XREP shell though. They should make a gun has a barrel for those as well as one for lethal ammo for the military.

Yeah, the XREP is awesome. I was planning on getting a 12-ga anyway for home defense, those should be a fun addition.

That assumes an organized and trained group, not a crowd or mob. Rioters generally are so disorganized (that's part of the definition, right?) that when anything that knocks down more than a couple of people at a time happens, they disperse. This is an evolution of the water canon in my opinion: nonlethal, powerful and able to affect a large number of people pretty much at once.
Would you rather they used rubber bullets? I certainly wouldn't!
