I have no idea what happened. She and the other one were getting along. She's been to the vet, had shots.

She has been very sleepy today so I have been checking on her. Last check, she died.

I am just wondering if she got into something. Could some poison affect the little cat and not the bigger one? They were always together.

They were eating Purina Pro.

Should I throw out the food and the litter? I wanna make sure nothing happened to the other kitten.

It's so sad.

I would call your vet to see what they say. It's possible it was sick when you got it. Do you have any of the hazardous houseplants?

sad.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Personally, I would throw out everything the kitty used; food, litter, everything and start fresh. It could have been anything from viral, bacterial, or parasitic. And clean. Everything. Maybe I'm paranoid, but it certainly won't hurt. Did you let them outside?

She was raised by the vet- the litter was dropped there. They vaccinated them, tested them, etc.

No, she didn't go outside and we have no plants.

I just haven't had this happen before and thought someone may have insight here. Just strange with the pet food scare.

Ida know.

Oh man, that sucks.

Mine are all on Royal Canin. I don't trust Purina.

One word: ouch. I remember when my first dog died, she was 14 years old and a huge part of my life. Hurts doesn't it?

I suppose it's a bit easier since she was so young. My dogs are 12yrs, 11yrs and the other kitten (Zada) is about 5 mos.

Still tho, that innocent little face.

I really hope Zada is okay.

Very sorry. My two are almost 16 years old and I'm going to be very sad when they pass.

Lil "Punkin" is buried now.

I made Zada chicken and rice for dinner as I am afraid of the food now.

I'm really sorry to hear. Cats are such great animals.

Were you treating it for fleas by any chance? I had a cat who we put flea treatment on and he ended up being allergic to it. He licked it up when he licked his fur and went into seizures. We found him around the side of the house unable to control his body. After we found him, we took him to the vet who after keeping him for a day wanted to put him to sleep. We told the vet not to, and the next day my cat woke up and was completely fine. But it was a close call.

Get the other cats liver checked. There was that bad wheat gluten going around recently and Purina was one of the foods affected.
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

How old was it?

There is a virus with a 90% fatality rate that can hit kittens and kill them overnight. My friends cat got it and it died.

Worst part is it is totally contagious and will kill all the other kittens as well. You have to disinfect the whole house with bleach and even then it can still live on surfaces for over a year. If the kitten did have it you need to get the other out of the house right now.

Well, the other kitten goes tothe vet in the morning. She is eating, playing and sleeping. But, I'll get her checked out anyway. I see now that it can be anything.

They are all on homemade diet fornow til we get this sorted out. (Meaning the kitten and the dogs)

Thanks everyone.
