Anyone ever use a site like swapalease.com? I've had my sports car fun, now I'd like to unload the thing. I have a great payment and I'm under on miles, so it's not like I'm trying to dump a turd on someone. Is there anything to be careful of or know about doing this?

When I wanted to get rid of my car when I know longer needed a car, I tried swapalease and craigslist. I got rid of it through craigslist. Got much more hits through it. Just make sure you know the terms of your lease and what's required to transfer it, if you can. Not all leases are transferable.

They claim it is, but I have to have them approve the buyer. For all I know, they never approve anyone.

That's standard. They need to run a credit check on the potential lessee. They're not going to let just pick anyone off the street to take over the financial responsibility of the lease. Also, make sure that they are truly taking over the lease and removing you from it. Some companies leave you ultimately responsible for the lease even if they let someone take over the payments.

Your best bet would be to use craigslist. It's cheaper for you and the new lessee. You don't have to deal with transporting the car across the country and the costs associated with that. Just make sure you spell out all the terms in the transfer process. You will probably need to provide some financial incentives too, such as paying the transfer fees, paying the first lease payment, etc.
