So Netflix has been down since sometime yesterday evening. I first noticed it was down when I tried to log in this morning to make sure I had the movies set that I wanted to be sent today. I wonder now if because their website is down if that means my movies also were not processed.

They announced yesterday that they lost 55k subscribers between April and June, and the stock dipped down today to the lowest its has been in over two years. Things are not looking very good for Netflix.

This is starting to piss me off. I should have a new DVD being sent to me today, but there's no way to check it. WTF?

All glory to the hypnotoad.

I noticed that too, and they kept pushing back the time when they claimed it would be back. 11 AM. 1 PM. 4PM. Now they just got rid of the time completely and it just say "Please visit us again soon." Haha.

MacNN has been really slow for me today, as well. Perhaps there's too much stuff in the tubes?

There must be new iMacs on the way.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

Maybe. A lot of sites are broken or slow for me too. Strange.

Netflix is back up but there is definitely something wrong. I got two new release movies sent to me today! They were just released today. That never happens!

I noticed that as well. However, they shipped out the new release before it happened early yesterday.

I hit refresh a couple of times last night, and it would say things like "back at 4 PST" then "back at 6 PST" then "back at 4 PST". Something weird was going on. I thought for a minute they wouldn't come back up, but looks like they are up now.

365 Main datacenter power outage brings down major websites « Darren Straight’s Blog

"It seems that the Web 2.0 datacenter 365 Main, in the heart of SOMA, has lost it’s power. Sites that are affected include Craigstlist, Technorati, Yelp, Netflix, AdBrite and all Six Apart properties, TypePad, LiveJournal and Vox."

I got an e-mail from Netflix reducing my monthly rental fee to $16.99 for 4 movies at a time. Obviously a move to retain customers. I will stick with Netflix. Their service has usually been pretty good.
