What's Your Connection To A Famous Film?

I have several connections. But the one I'll start with is Norman Fell, who appeared in Bullitt and the Graduate as well as in the TV show, Three's Company.

I was a cashier and waited on him.

Not that great of a connection, but it's just where we start. What are YOUR connections?

My aunt lives right down the street from the school where the filmed Kindergarten Cop.

Also, I went to school with Kirsten Dunst.

Not to mention that Arnold was my governor for a while.

Like you were in the movie? Or are we stretching it as far as saying a connection is meeting a celeb at some point unrelated to the film?

Off the top of my head scenes in The Fugative, The Untouchables, The Express, and Road to Perdition were all filmed within 200 yeards of my parents house.

My sister is friends with one of the girls who starred in School of Rock.

Me and my friends were extras in Home Alone 2 in the toystore scene. We didn't make the movie though. If I really stretch it, I drank quite often at the bar they used in St Elmos Fire and the bar they used in Back to School while i lived in those cities.

My uncle is an actor. Not famous, but he's played speaking roles in a few films. I also have a (distant) cousin who played a bit part in American Graffiti.

I live with RADA graduates and know a fair few actors. I've also had the non-pleasure of meeting some a-lists at a party or two, needless to say everyone was off kilter and came across as fairly boring/arrogant.

1. I am semi-distantly related to Ned Beatty of "Deliverance" fame (have met him at a family reunion)
2. I went to Junior High School and was casually friendly with Jared Leto of "Requiem for a Dream" fame.
3. I worked in a fancy shop out in the Hamptons for a few summers and waited on a lot of celebs, including spending several hours with Al Pachino, of being Al Pachino fame, as he was kitting out a new house.
4. This is my fav, and I've posted about it on MacNN before- below is the original post followed by a PM I got later:
Hi Paco500,

When I read your post:

"Not teribly famous, but got quite drunk sitting at a bar and talking to Thomas Hedley, the guy that co-wrote flashdance with Joe Esterhaus (although each claim the other did nothing and he was responsible for it's brilliance). This was a wild night- the guy has clearly done not much of note since, and was really hanging on to this- It was a least 10 years after the movie and he was in this bar going on and on about it to some 19 year old kid. It was a hoot."

--it made my day!! Thanks for the HUGE laugh!!

Maureen Marder

P.S. It isn't surprising though: once a blowhard barfly, always a blowhard barfly, I guess! Thanks again--no, really, thanks!
So you don't have to google it, Maureen Marder is the stripper/dancer the Jennifer Beals character is based on. It was one of the coolest emails I've ever gotten.
Paco is bitter about the loss of his .mac webpage. Image will return when his sadness lessens.

I am in the audience of the wedding in Bull Durham. I lived in Raleigh (near Durham) when the movie was filmed and they asked for people to come fill the stands while they filmed some scenes.

I was an extra in a made for TV movie called Andersonville. Even got paid for it, although I worked under the name of one of my fraternity brothers because they had too many people show up and started only accepting people that had worked on the film before, so I had to use his name and SS# to get in.

My aunt (not by blood, she married my uncle) is Alicia Keys' aunt.

My loft entrance was used in the filming of several scenes of 8-Mile. In the final cut of the film only the "drop off" scene was used which was in front of my loft. There were a couple others including the coming/going of an extra from my door (director of photography cut himself and used my place/first aid kit to get fixed up...they didn't have a medic on site...how odd). Anyway, during the "drop off" scene my place is clearly visible getting quite a bit of screen time. Plus, I'm standing up in my top windows taking photos and filming with my web cam the action for others to see what was going on. You can make out my shadow behind the frosted glass

The script of The Departed was revised from that of Inferno Affair, a Hong Kong film. I went to high-school with the producer's son.

My dad is deaf and watched Gone with the Wind about 40 years ago. He enjoyed the movie even though he had to read the character's lips. My dad really respected Clark's character, I was named after that character. Nope, my name isn't Rhett, it's what my father thought he was saying (remember he's deaf), Rex.

Yes, more like the latter. Sort of a 6 Degrees to Famous Fildom. Being IN a film or on the crew absolutely counts. But so does drinking at a bar used in a well know film scene or setting.

At what point was Liza Minnelli hot?

Anyway, my cousin got cut out of the background of a scene in The Client. I think that's my best connection.

I went to high school with Mena Suvari (American Beauty).

My creative writing instructor took myself and a few others to a reading of the movie that turned out to be "Just Married" (Ashton Kutcher flick).

Mena Suvari has shaved her head for her latest movie.

The American Beauty star was spotted with a newly bald head when she met a friend for lunch in Beverly Hills.

Mena's representative says the actress shaved off her locks in June while shooting Garden of Eden in Spain.

And Mena, 28, doesn't seem to mind.

'I was really excited to get to shave my head — it's something I'd wanted to do for a while and now I had a good excuse,' she tells Access Hollywood. 'It was nice to shed that level of vanity for a girl.'
