Had you heard anything about it previously?
I don't have television at home and this didn't cause enough stir on the tubes to get my attention.

Yeah, it looks good.
I hope it's better than Sunshine. I saw that last night and it was worthless.

It's based on a novel* by the popular comic book author Neil Gaiman. I've heard good things about the novel from my friends, so hopefully the movie lives up to it.
*That's an actual novel, by the way, not this "graphic novel" hoo-hah.

I always want to see movies before I read the novels, because I know otherwise I'll hate the movie for completely stupid reasons.

Saw the movie this afternoon. At the complex we went to, they were selling out Rush Hour 3 on four screens. There were about 30 of us in the one screen this movie was on.
This is the movie people should be lining up to see and have it showing on multiple screens. I don't know why there wasn't much of a push for this movie.
If you like The Princess Bride, you'll love this movie.

I got back from it a couple of hours ago. It was pretty good. I thought it kind of dragged a bit toward the beginning, but I enjoyed it once it got going.

I loved it. It was a very enjoyable movie. The audience was very pleased. I heard many people around me saying how good the story was.
I loved Robert De Niro's character.

My post was a tech note rather than commentary. In fact I think it looks interesting based on the trailer.

I'm a huge Gaiman fan and have read Stardust twice (once out loud for my fiancé). The trailer and marketing for the movie really got me worried, but it appears the reviews for it is great. So I'm a bit ambivalent about it, but I'm prepared to be pleasantly surprised. What's with all the swashbuckling though?

Just got back from watching it. It was really good. Nice fantasy movie with quite a bit of humor.
I recommend it.

Saw it last weekend and really enjoyed it. I honestly wasn't expecting too much, but it was good.
Robert De Niro was brilliant

Saw it over the weekend. Enjoyed it but wouldn't say it's great. It had it's slow points and I think De Niro was totally miscast.
Not really sure if this is a true spoiler. But the part that bothered me most was how willing the star Yvaine was to go along with Tristan as his gift to Victoria.

The only reason she did was because he had enough of a Babylon Candle left to get her home.

Haven't seen the movie yet, but in the book she was not very willing at all.

I just saw this on DVD, and liked this movie more than I liked The Princess Bride.
I will be picking Stardust up on HD DVD.

This was one of the year's sleepers. Effects were largely invisible in a good way (at least on my computer screen.) And it's a lot of fun to see the cast in action. Michelle Pfeiffer getting scarey ugly, Robert de Niro as a cross-dressing pirate. And the "newcomer" guy who plays our hero was quite good. Not to mention the seven ghost princes. And Mark Williams (aka Arthur Weasley) plays a hapless goat turned into a human.
I gather that it was originally a novel and then was produced in a form with extensive illustrations that makes it sort of a graphic novel hybrid.
I certainly would recommend it to anyone who didn't feel that blood is a necessity for entertainment.

I saw it last night. I thought it was great. I wasn't expecting it to be as comical as it was, but it was actually a relief. It had a style and charm that kept me going the whole film. Good flick.

I liked it. It held up to the trailer. Quite a few movies don't rise to the standards of their own trailers.
BSG-style nit:
When she shines up near the end, I expected collateral damage in the great hall. She should have totaled the place. Instead, not a single candle was blown out.
