Or I could just rent Event Horizon and 2001 and go back and forth between the DVD chapters. Looks like I'd get the same storyline from that.

It was horrible. Plodding story line, more artsy than entertaining.

It was good until the last half an hour. An unnecessary plot twist. Otherwise an interesting a visually good film.

Wow, quite a difference of opinions.
Looks like Rotten Tomatoes rates it pretty good. I want to see it before it's out of theaters.

I watched this movie. It is kinda meh. I'd recommend it if you're bored and have nothing else to do, but you might do better to rent an old classic or something.

The only thing I was too keen on was how old Capp was. I thought I heard that Capp claimed he had designed the Stellar Bomb. If so, that means he designed the identical Ircris One bomb also, flown 7 years previously. In order to design, and mine all the materials meant he couldn't be the age that Capp appeared to be. He had to be much older.

So this movie is either totally awesome or really terrible. I guess at least we've narrowed it down.

Yeah I agree. It is odd how people can have totally different opinions of something. I thought is was great.

Another vote for GREAT. I really enjoyed this flick - the visuals were stunning, great acting, a really epic feel and a story with much more depth then your average fare. I find it amazing how it's getting lumped in with Event Horizon and any number of other "trapped in space" sci-fi movies. It's like saying that every new cops and robbers movie will suck because they'll be retreading the territory of their predecessors.

It wasn't bad. I liked the ending. Very unhollywood.

You mean 2001?
Which, BTW, is THE best movie made about space....ever.
Not to mention this perfection arrived in 1968.

I love that movie. I love that some people hate it.
It was so far ahead of its time.

2001 has been mentioned, for sure, but the number of posts I've read about Sunshine being a lame rip-off of Event Horizon is stunning. Overall, I just think its a really weak argument any time someone is panning one movie because, in their eyes, it isn't as good as some other movie within the same genre. A movie should be judged on its own merits, not on its relationship to other movies' merits.
But I'm really straying from the point....... Sushine rocked. Not perfect, but it rocked.

It's almost still ahead of its time, which boggles the mind.
I'm not saying every other space movie sucks, but 2001 is the pinnacle of sci-fi film making.
