I'm trying to find an extremely strong superglue that can withstand high heat. What I'm trying to do is mount an iPhone dock on my dashboard and I live in Georgia and i want to make sure that the heat wont make it fall off. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

Have you investigated the possibility of using a screw or two?

I thought of that route also, but I'm not sure if I want to screw anything into my dash... If i were to do that I would have to get it professionally done. Idk what to do yet... Maybe you could live up to your name and design me something

I guarantee you gorilla glue will do more damage to your dash than a couple of easily plug-able screw holes.

ok, so how should I mount the dock? I would think if I screwed through it then I would mess something up.

Some fairly short wood screws should do the job, no?

Also PL200 (polyurethane deck glue) is just about the most rugged adhesive ever. I did a test where I stuck two wet peices of wood together with PL and then threw it in a bucket of water. Trying to separate the two several hours later ripped the wood apart.

Ok, I'm kind of gettting confused. You guys are telling me to screw through the dock or are you telling me I should mount it to something THEN screw it to the dash? I need guidance in this little project!

You drill some holes and screw some screws through. A wood screw cuts its own thread.
Who needs a manual for something like that?

I understand how wood screws work smart guy, I'm just trying to figure out how to do it without screwing through the dock itself because I'm sure it would screw the internals up.

Plumbers Goop.. It expands and contracts with temperature. Crazy glue would shatter in cold weather, Epoxies loosen up in hot weather.

Use a 2 part 5 minute Epoxy.
Actually, I believe the best option incase you want to remove it in the future is silicon adhesive. It'll do less damage and it holds pretty good.

The catalyst is moisture, both things you are sticking together must be moist....of course all this is on the directions on the bottle.
We use it for outside mahogany, tough stuff, I suspect you didn't apply it properly.

Use clear silicon caulking. It will hold it in place and if you choose to remove it, it will peel off and not leave a trace.

Rubber cement.
Or one of these "sticky" pads, which by the way, do work quite well. I have something similar on my dash and my iPod has never slipped off. Just stick your dock on there. Dunno about the iPhone on a dock though since I imagine it's top heavy. iSticky Pad - a Large Sticky Pad

Fine Woodworking Magazine recently did a test and it faired the worst of the popular glues. Titebond III did the best. But the test was only for wood joints.
I used Gorilla Glue once. I was severely disappointed. It was for a shower seat made from teak. I ended up remaking it and using Titebond III.

Titebond III is some good stuff, it's just a little to runny for me.
I've never had problems with Gorilla. We don't use it that often, but the outdoor projects I've done are holding up nicely. We also use quite a bit of 5 minute epoxy.

Have you considered putting the phone in the glove box while driving. That way it will not distract should it ring.

Hire an illegal immigrant to just hold it on the dash while you drive.
It's early, I'm still warming up.

If it begins to fall off, you can always screw the velcro down.

To save me all this trouble, some company needs to make a quality dock. One that can plug into the auxilary port and the ciggy lighter. It seems like the aux. port is the best way to go since an FM tuner would have interference.
