Wow, talk about a double standard.
The rich and famous Lindsey Lohan gets one day in jail for cocaine possession and drunk driving. If it were us, we'd be in the slammer till the cows come home.
Kind of galls me, but I know I shouldn't be surprised.
Of course the next one up at bat is Vick, and we'll have to wait till monday to see what kind sentence he'll get. A slap on the wrist or normal sentence.
The one thing is sure, if she doesn't change her ways Lindsey will be in court again looking for special treatment because she's a star. With her reputation though it appears movie offers are starting to dry up on her and the hard living is aging her before her time.

Did she even get charged with cocaine possession and drunken driving? I think I read that she wasn't.

Not sure where your perception of what happens to the rest of us came from, but first time offenders for possession usually get a very light sentence - community service, probation, etc so long as the person seems like they're a 'normal, working, member of society' type rather than a 'cocaine is just one of my many crimes' type. Basically, you'll get the benefit of the doubt if it looks like what you did was a mistake.
In my younger, stupider days, I was caught stealing. When I showed up in court, they read off a list of names and told us all to go to another room (it was a bunch of us). In the other room, they told us that we were all first time offenders who likely made a mistake. If we would complete a four hour course and 20 hours of community service, the whole thing would be expunged from our records.

Maybe its a different state thing, but here in Massachusetts. As you can see below its a lot steeper then 1 day in jail and a couple of weeks of community service
First offense:
* Jail: Not more than 2 1/2 years House of Correction
* Fine: $500-$5,000
* License suspended for 1 year; work/education hardship considered in 3 mths; general hardship in 6 mths
Second Offense
* ail: Not less than 60 days (30 day mandatory), not more then 2 1/2 years
* Fine: $600-$10,000
* License suspended for 2 years, work/education hardship considered in 1 year; general hardship in 18 months. (Note: In almost every case, with a breath test refusal or failure you won't be eligible for a hardship or full license restoration for at least 3 years total.)
* As of January 1, 2006 - Interlock device installed in your car at your own expense for 2 years, when you become eligible for hardship or license reinstatement.

I got caught with oxcontins once by the police (with weed on me too) And oxys and cocaine i think both are schedule II drugs, so they carry the same offense. (Barney made sure to tell me that when I showed them to him) "You know this is just like having cocaine right?"
Good luck I had the prescription bottle at the house. (Had to bring it to court) I don't think he liked that. He tried to scare me with "Yeah you're probably going to jail for this one..."
I only had a quarter sack. I was honest with the guy..
I just got some fines, thats all. No felony record. And I don't have a vagina, nor am I Lindsey Lohan.
Being in cuffs is no fun though. Esp with some skunky smelling weed in your pocket and the drug dog acting like he wanted to bite through the barrier and eat my eyes out.

a quarter sack? like a quarter of an ounce? 90% of the cops in this country would take you to jail for that. Often, same with the OC if it's on you and you don't have your 'scrip.
I spent a day in jail in October '06, spent the next 8 MONTHS trying to clear my good name on the matter (improper paperwork filing caused me to receive a felony warrant, which I was picked up on). All charges have since been dropped. I can't really be outraged at the whole thing because it's clear how whacked our legal system is. I'm just thankful I only spent $400 on my attorney who got me cleared up. (got a few quotes over $2000 - for an innocent man to state his case to the Judge!?)
ps - I initially represented myself. Always clean shaven, pressed shirt, tie(half windsor), well spoken, and my facts were straight. The state attorney wasn't having it AT ALL, especially when it was made apparent that I was right and they had made a mistake.. I literally laid it all out for them. The judge kept postponing my court dates telling me to go get a lawyer(eff that, I'm broke and I'm correct) . I swear to holy heck - **** the judicial system.

Didn't realize an interlock device could tell if you've been doing blow.

apparently she was carrying so little cocaine it never met the standard for felony possession so she got misdemeanor possession.

Actually, this was not her first offense, with either item, so she does not have the benefit of the doubt.
Second, they dropped the cocaine charges, like the guy above me said, there was to little to really do much.

California has rather lenient drug laws in general.

No, just in general. If you're not an idiot, you can stay out of jail on possession charges and even drunk driving a lot of the time. I've had loser friends who did it, and they weren't celebrities.

Lindsay's mom blew the judge and the DA. It was a two in one buffet. Lindsay's mom is apparently a bigger crack head and sleep around artist than daughter number one. I don't know what anyone sees in this Lohan critter. Nearly all her movies flop.

I assume you mean she threatened to give them VD unless they let her daughter off the hook?

I don't know how the Lohan bitches get what they get but it smells awfully like blackmail against some rich married man or two or something. I can't understand how so much money can be lost on an actress and her flops and she's still held up as something special.

In Ohio you can have up to almost 3 ounces of weed on you before it becomes a felony. (They aren't going after the users, but the dealers

It wasn't oxycontin, but oxycodone. I apologize (Same thing basically.. but not) I don't look like the atypical "Drug hoodlum" around here so he probably cut me some slack.
